NABNA Co- Founder
Gerald D. Chapman Named
TSA Area Director

Gerald D. Chapman (Center)
The Transportation Security Administration named Mark K. Haught, Gerald D. Chapman and David Beecroft as its three area directors to oversee transportation security at airports and in other modes of transportation for the Eastern, Central and Western Areas, respectively.
Area director positions were established to give greater flexibility and coordination in providing TSA support to all federal security directors (FSDs) in the field. Area directors work directly with headquarters staff in a team approach to resolve issues and respond to incidents affecting the transportation systems in their respective areas. They not only oversee FSDs but also ensure that security procedures and responses are carried out in an effective manner for the viability of the national transportation system.
Chapman will assume responsibility for the Central Area. He was appointed the FSD of Columbia Metropolitan Airport in Columbia, S.C. in 2002. Before joining TSA, he was the corporate safety and security manager at E*TRADE Group, Inc., and east regional security manager of Florida Power & Light Group. Prior to his security posts in the private industry he served at the Drug Enforcement Administration for more than 28 years. His last assignment at the DEA was as the assistant special agent in charge of the New York field division. Chapman holds Bachelor of Science degrees in chemistry and mathematics from Alabama State University and a master's degree in criminal justice administration from Atlanta University.
