Announcing New Content on the

Cleveland Restoration Society Website!

The Cleveland Restoration Society is excited to announce the launch of new and improved website content at www.clevelandrestoration.org. For the past year CRS staff and the graphic designers at GruberDesign, LLC have been diligently working to give dimensionality to two areas of online content. While the graphical format of the website remains the same as the 2010 full re-design, visitors will be now be able to navigate through multiple, interactive pages of historic preservation-related content.

Improvements to Homeowner Information and Application Process

The "Homeowner Program" section of the website has been overhauled and expanded to offer visitors instant access to important program information and documents. Visitors are presented with four, graphically represented buttons:

  • Technical Advice HHP Screen
  • Workshops
  • Loans
  • Projects

Where the biggest changes can be viewed is when the visitor clicks on the "Loans" or "Projects" button.

Prospective loan clients will be able to navigate through four sections of loan-specific content in "Loans:"

  • Details: a basic overview of the terms and conditions.
  • Qualify: to see if the project may qualify for funding.
  • Process: a step-by-step explanation of what to expect.
  • Get Started: an online form to begin the loan application process.

Now individuals interested in CRS's Heritage Home Program(SM) loan can find out about the program, determine if they qualify, and begin the pre-qualification process - all from the comfort of their home!

Prospective loan clients can now also see what others have done with the funding and technical advice that CRS provides on the "Projects" page. By seeing before-and-after examples of what their neighbors have been up to, prospective loan applicants may even get ideas for their own restoration project.

New Preservation Resources for Property Owners

The biggest change to CRS's website is the eleven new topical pages of informational content that are now located in the new "Preservation Toolbox" section. With the Toolbox, property owners can visit the Cleveland Restoration Society's website any time to learn about issues that are pertinent to Cleveland's historic built resources. Each page iToolbox-Recent Past s filled with valuable information, tips, and resources aimed directly at helping those that own, live in, or are just passionate about, historic houses. And the information in these pages is relevant for owners of historic buildings of many types, not just residential properties.

The new Toolbox pages are divided into twelve sections:

  • Painting Your Old House
  • Home Maintenance
  • Sustainability & Preservation
  • Researching Your Old House
  • Hiring A Contractor
  • Greening Your House
  • Windows
  • Weatherization
  • Historic Roofs
  • Recent Past
  • Landscape
  • Links

New Short Video Clips

One of the things that had been missing from CRS's online content is the actual voices and comments from northeastern Ohio's community. CRS is set to change that with the addition of topical videos, created in partnership with Glazen Studios, in select areas of CRS's website. Soon online visitors will be able to watch engaging video segments that address such topics as "Preserving Landmarks," "Preserving Cleveland's Heritage," and "Who Makes Preservation Happen?" These videos use interviews with individuals who have first-hand knowledge or experience with the topic and images to address typical questions, concerns, or information that we think will be of interest to our online audience.

These updates have been completed with the support of and partnership from the Ohio Historic Preservation Office. Be sure to visit www.clevelandrestoration.org to see all of the exciting new content and changes!
