Greetings!
Last week the Class of 2010 celebrated graduation and is
preparing to start college in the fall. Most will be the first in their families to pursue a post-secondary
degree. While speaking with
several parents after the commencement ceremony, I was struck by how
extraordinary this moment was for our families. One father said to me, "It
(college) is an opportunity I never had. I'm so happy for my daughter and so thankful for this school." On behalf of the faculty and staff of North Cambridge
Catholic/Cristo Rey Boston High School, I thank you for supporting our students
during the 2009-10 school year. Your investment paid greater dividends than you
will ever know. Your gifts
transformed the lives of our students and raised the hopes of low-income
families throughout Greater Boston. It is now moving week. Students are either going to work or
helping to move books, furniture, and materials from Cambridge to our new
location in Dorchester. Yes, the student labor lowers our moving costs, but
more importantly it is a way to get our young people involved in this exciting
moment in our history! A volunteer group from "Rebuilding Together
Boston" painted a few rooms at our new site earlier in the week, the
construction crew continues its work and will be busy throughout the summer
making improvements to the Savin Hill school, boxes are packed, and moving vans
are going back and forth between Cambridge and Dorchester. We are celebrating both a new beginning
and a continuation of a mission that began here in Cambridge 89 school years
ago. We look forward to showing you our new location in
Dorchester in the fall. Thank you
for believing in our young people and best wishes for a restful and happy summer!
Sincerely,
Jeff Thielman President

Letter of Thanks from CEO of The Fisheries Exchange
Neal Workman is the CEO of The Fisheries Exchange, member of the Board of Trustees of Cristo Rey Boston, and a great friend to Cristo Rey Boston. He recently wrote to Mary Roberts, Director of the Corporate Work Study Program, about his wonderful experience with CWSP and Marc Gellin, his student worker. Although his story is special, it is not unique to the Cristo Rey Boston Program. We are grateful for our relationship with the Fisheries Exchange and for Mr. Workman's thoughts. Read about his reflection on the year, the program, and Marc here.

More than 350 turn out for Last Chance Reunion! On Sunday May 23, more than 350 alumni from North Cambridge Catholic and St. John's High School walked the halls of 40 Norris Street for the last time. People as young as the class of 2009 to as old as the class of 1930, from as far as Washington and Arizona and as close as one block away, came to reminisce down memory lane and reunite with old friends, classmates, and teachers. Nancy Gelowtsky Miller, '60, stated, " I really appreciate the strong academic preparation I received at North Cambridge Catholic High School. I think the reason I becamce a French teacher was due to Sister Agatha OP."
