Greetings!

I finally have the news on the Scantling Rules ballot that was just completed. The results lag behind the due date because I accept ballots that are post marked on the due date (Feb 3) and sometimes I still get mail three days later from the East coast.

Please follow the link to Join or Renew your 2009 NCESA membership. This is especially important before the first regatta - event registration and administration goes so much smoother if membership is taken care of ahead of time.
Sincerely,

Lon Schoor

Scantling Rule Ballot Results

There were seven items on the ballot, the results are:

1.  Prohibit the use of electronic equipment which displays or computes mark positions or course thereto, true or relative boat speed, or other GPS or computed parameters.

This item failed to pass the two thirds majority needed. The vote was 75 in favor and 41 opposed. It needed 77.3 Regular member votes to pass.

-------------------------------------

The remaining 6 items all passed the two thirds majority needed to become part of the Scantling Rules.

2.  Allow aluminum alloy with strength properties equal to or better than 6061-T6.
     107 In Favor, 8 Opposed

3.  Allow rules interpretations to go to the Rules Committee first.

4.  Remove reference to natural sail material and jib luff wire.

     106 In Favor, 10 Opposed

7.  Remove wood boat and mast references and cleanup some scantling language.

     109 In Favor, 9 Opposed

The numbers don't always add up to the same amount because sometimes people did not vote on an item.

An Apology

A mistake was made while revising the NCESA web pages and the most current 'For Sale' information was lost. I am in the process of reconstructing the items for sale to bring it back to the corrected state.  It will be a day or so before I get it corrected.

The changes to the Web site were to make it easier to maintain and to improve the structure for saving Web page information. The plan is to improve historical information and provide members with the option to better view a history of events.

2009 Nationals at Oshkosh Yacht Club

The Oshkosh Yacht Club has been completely remodeled to provide a great venue for the 51st E National Regatta on beautiful Lake Winnebago.  This will be the first E National Regatta in Oshkosh in over 20 years.  The OYC is preparing to put on a show the fleet will not soon forget.

The 2009 E National Regatta is scheduled Wednesday, September 9th through the 12th.  Registration will be the Wednesday after Labor Day, with sailing Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

I have to say that the Oshkosh Yacht Club has a fantastic group of volunteer members that I know will make this a fabulous event. See the following link for more information.

The '2009 Nationals' tab on the NCESA Website is under construction.  I will let you know when its ready. It will have the full blown details about the city, events, merchandise, and racing.
