Direct Me to Doctors
From Alma Miller:  REPLY
I just relocated from Europe and need a great dentist, orthodontist (my adolescent boys have braces) and OB/GYN. We live in Miami Beach so your suggestions for doctors in that area are greatly welcomed. Thanks!

Gone Fishing
From Cyndy Blackwell:  REPLY
JABBERS, my parents are coming into town and I'd like to take them out for a half-day fishing trip. Is there a charter boat you recommend? Thank you!

Keep Your Children Safe
From Jennifer Gould:  REPLY
The Oscar Project is a Miami based non-profit whose mission is to help prevent unintentional injury in and out of the home.  We hold monthly Spanish language workshops designed to give child caregivers, parents, and families the information and tools to prevent these unintentional injuries. Florida has the highest drowning rate in children ages 1-4, and in 2002, there were approximately 1.2 million accidental poisonings in children under the age of 5 in the United States. You can help prevent these injuries by attending our course at Miami Children's Hospital on July 7, contacting us to schedule a seminar, or by visiting our website HERE to learn more about additional courses.*

Perfect Princess Party
From Nicole Gems:  REPLY
Help! I am looking for a fabulous birthday idea for a four-year-old who loves princesses. The party will be in November and I need a fantastic venue for the fairy tale fete. I appreciate your ideas. Thanks!

From Team JAB
Looking for the best place to celebrate the Fourth of July holiday? Check out these great events happening all over town.

July Fourth Parade, BBQ and Fireworks, Miami Springs
Celebrate America's Independence with the annual Miami Springs Fourth of July parade. The parade route starts at the Miami Springs Recreation Center and heads east along Westward Drive to the Circle. The parade route then continues south on Curtiss Parkway and concludes at the Miami Springs Country Club. The parade is scheduled for 10 am. Then head to the Miami Springs Country Club for a community barbecue filled with food, fun and giant waterslides from 11 am to 1 pm. Finish a fun day celebrating freedom with a beautiful fireworks show on the greens of the Miami Springs Golf Course. Fireworks start at dusk, but you'll want to bring your blankets and lawn chairs early to reserve your spot on the green.

Fourth of July Parade, Key Biscayne
It's a good old-fashioned parade in Key Biscayne this Independence Day! This Key Biscayne tradition features floats, music and fireworks. The parade begins along Crandon Boulevard at 11 am.

Fourth of July Fireworks, Aventura
The City of Aventura's 17th annual Independence Day fireworks celebration features a special aerial display that can be viewed from any location along Country Club Drives. The fireworks will begin promptly at 9 pm.

City of Miami Beach Fpurth of July Celebration, Miami Beach

Amberin: Is it the Answer?
From Anonymous:  REPLY

JAB Has it All!
From Rachel Pappas

JAB Summer Reading

When you need to find the best pediatric dermatologist, interior designer, or personal chef in Miami, you turn to your fellow JABBERS.  So it's only fitting that you would turn to each other for book suggestions, too.  Summer is soon upon us, so whether you're spending your free time by the pool, at the beach, or in a shady hammock, one thing is certain - you need a good book!  Here are some tried and true recommendations to help us all enjoy the lazy days of summer. If you missed Part 1, click HERE, and tune in for Part 3.

The Peach Keeper by Sarah Addison AllenPeach Keeper
Recommended By: Amy Semancik Diaz
"Actually, anything from Sarah Addison Allen!  I read all of her books last summer after giving birth to my second son and had more time on my hands.  The Peach Keeper is her latest book but I started with The Girl Who Chased the Moon which was amazing; I couldn't put it down.  Allen's books are kind of like taking you into this quirky world of the "typical" southern family next door," Amy shares.  Order HERE.

Peach Keeper Sarah's Key by Tatiana Rosnay
Recommended By Amy Triggs
With more than five million copies in print and over two years on the New York Times bestseller list, Sarah's Key centers on a ten-year-old Jewish girl's heroic act to save her younger brother from police round-up in 1942 France. Her story intersects with an American journalist investigating the raid sixty years later. The secrets she uncovers link her to Sarah, and unveil questions about her own future. Order HERE.

The Kitchen House by Kathleen Grissom

Recommended By: Victoria Assa,Peach Keeper
JustAskBoo Editorial Director
When a seven-year old white girl is orphaned onboard a ship bringing her from Ireland to America, she is thrust into work with the slaves of a kitchen house at a tobacco plantation.  Despite the difference in skin color, Lavinia becomes deeply attached to her adopted family. But when she is accepted into the world of the big house, her loyalties are tested as she makes a choice between two very different worlds. Order HERE.

Peach Keeper Carry the One by Carol Anshaw
Recommended By: Samantha Schosberg Feuer
Samantha is serious about books: until recently, she drove down to Miami once a month to meet with the club she helped found there years ago. She tells us this book is similar in concept to the movie "I Know What You Did Last Summer," but in book form, and actually good. The story follows a group of friends over a span of 25 years, following their involvement in a fatal car accident. Order HERE.
