The more time you give to thinking about your research beforehand, the more likely the final outcomes will meet your needs and feed into your business objectives.
Ruth Bolle, Head of Membership Research at Research by Design, gives you the model you need to write a successful research brief.
She details the five key elements:
1 - Market, business and strategic overview
2 - Background to and role of the research
3 - Objectives

|Fancy 'test-driving' a new competency framework for membership professionals?|
In February we received the 'green light' from over 20 membership organisation/association representatives to develop a dedicated competency framework for our sector.
We have done just that, so now it's time for you to 'test drive'!
A dedicated half-day focus group will take place in Central London on 22nd June and will be generously hosted by the Trade Association Forum (TAF).
We now invite you to register an interest in attending!
Educational 'take-aways' from this session will be:
- A deeper understanding of the general and technical competencies required by membership and association professionals
- The opportunity to benchmark your activities with colleagues from other membership organisations and associations
- The opportunity to be one of the first membership organisations and associations to pilot the resource (completely free-of-charge for attendees at this focus group event)
We are now inviting up to 15 membership organisations and associations to attend this exclusive event where we will be focusing on the following areas - CPD, Professional Services, Governance, Membership, Marketing, Communications, Operations and Project Management.
