Greetings!

This edition of Aboveboard is dedicated to the memory of John Salisbury who generously gave the museum an endowment gift of $500,000 before he passed away on September 23, a few short weeks ago.

The endowment is for the ongoing future maintenance of the St. Roch so that future generations may enjoy and connect with this unique vessel and her role in Canadian arctic history.

Thank you, John, for your wonderful generosity and vision.

MUSEUM EXHIBITS

Movies to Sea in the TK Gallery NEW
Movie to Sea reunites the viewer with historical pop culture through the use of movie posters from the 1940s-1960s.  More about this exhibit.

Chátwilh: The Craft and Culture of the Squamish Canoe
Opens November 24
For countless generations, Squamish people hunted, fished, gathered resources, engaged in battle, and welcomed visitors from their canoes. Across the region that would become Vancouver, these were the vehicles that literally bound together life on the land and sea. This special exhibition will take visitors through the lifecycle of a Squamish canoe-from its roots in a stand of local temperate rainforest, through the hands of Squamish craftsmen, and throughout the Salish Sea. Squamish carvers are renowned for crafting seven types of specialized canoes. Discover how these watercraft continue to connect the Squamish people to each other and the wider world.

Please note that I AM VANCOUVER closes at the end of the day on Sunday, October 16.

Is St Roch haunted? Decide for yourself.
