Giving back to the sport and the community is an important part of who we are at TriLaVie. Plus, it just makes us feel great! When you volunteer with TriLaVie at a race, you not only get to give back to the sport by encouraging and supporting fellow athletes, you also have an opportunity to give back to the community through our Charity Beneficiaries Program. Each of the volunteer race opportunities in 2011 will earn a donation to our selected charity, Exceeding Expectations Foundation (www.eefoundation.org).
If you have ever participated in a race, you know that volunteers make a huge difference in how smoothly a race runs. Seeing what goes on "behind the scenes" is an eye-opener and something that each of us should experience at least once.

Who should volunteer?
Everyone!!! You didn't think that we were going to limit all of this fun to just TriLaVie Team Members did you? Volunteering is a great fit for team members and team friends and family (team supporters). All are welcome...the only requirement is a positive attitude and energy. |
I'm ready to volunteer...what am I getting myself into?
While the volunteer activities may differ from race to race, here is a list of the types of activities that we may be asked to help with at a triathlon:
· Checking in athletes at the race
· Body marking athletes
· Directing racers in and out of the transition area and on the course
· Handing out water at aid stations on the bike and run courses
· Helping to remove timing chips at the finish line
Cheering on all of the amazing athletes.

TriLaVie Charity: Exceeding Expectations Foundation TriLaVie gives back to the community through our Charity Beneficiaries Program. TriLaVie members raised more than $8,000.00 in 2010 through our volunteer efforts, partnerships with local race directors and direct donations. We are proud to announce that our choice for 2011 continues to be the Exceeding Expectations Foundation! Their work is important and life-changing. Exceeding Expectations is designed to encourage at-risk kids to move their lives in a positive direction using the sport of triathlon as the vehicle. It is founded by Ironman Hall of Fame triathlete Cherie Grunefeld (www.cheriegruenfeld.com). The goal of EE is to offer youth opportunities to participate in a lifestyle that is healthy, goal-oriented and very unlike that which they experience in their everyday lives. We strive to replace negative influences with positive role models and to instill in the kids a powerful new discipline of setting measurable goals and working hard to achieve them. |
