The Center for Cancer & Blood Disorders to Host Colorectal Cancer Awareness Event

The Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders will host a free 'Ask the Doctor' program focused on colorectal cancer as part of National Colorectal Awareness Month.
Colorectal cancer - cancer of the colon or rectum - is one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers in the United States.
The 'Ask the Doctor' colorectal cancer awareness event will be held:
Tuesday, March 6th from 12:00pm-1:00pm
"Among cancers that affect both men and women, colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the United States. But it doesn't have to be," says Henry Xiong, MD, PhD.
Dr. Xiong, Director of Gastrointestinal Cancer Center of Excellence at The Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders, will be one of the physicians available to answer questions about colorectal cancer.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, as many as 60 percent of colorectal cancer deaths could be prevented if all men and women aged 50 years or older were screened routinely.
Program participants will learn about the types of colorectal cancer screening tests available and when they should begin screenings. A free lunch will be provided.
The program is sponsored by The Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders and Gastroenterology Associates of North Texas (GANT). For more information, call 817.759.7000 or visit News & Events.
