One Book, One Community 2012

One Book

One Book, One Community is a community reading program where the goal is to have as many people as possible read and discuss the same book. This year, Park City Library partnered with Summit County Library and Dolly's Bookstore to select Refuge: An Unnatural History of Family and Place by Terry Tempest Williams as this year's One Book.

Refuge is a contemplation of human suffering and loss set against the backdrop of an environmental disaster. In 1983, the same year that the Great Salt Lake flooded, the author's mother was diagnosed with cancer. Written from the perspective of a journalist, poet, naturalist and daughter, this deeply emotional book is about finding refuge in situations beyond our control.

Books will be available at the Park City Library and Summit County Library for checkout. There will be several community copies you may see around town. Feel free to take one, read it, and pass it on to someone else.

Over the course of the summer the following programs will be tied in with the book:

Tuesday, July 3rd from 9:00 - 10:00 am

KPCW is hosting a discussion about the book and the upcoming programs. Tune in to 91.9 FM.
