Take the Wasatch Solar Challenge !

Come in and checkout the library's great collection of solar energy books on display during May.

Have you been looking for ways to reduce your carbon footprint, lower your energy bills, and improve our energy security? There has never been a better time to install solar energy panels on your home or business! Park City is part of a new team of local governments working to encourage more solar power installations in Utah.  The goal of this partnership is to reduce the costs to install solar panels and to make the process more efficient. Park City Municipal will waive building permit and site inspection fees (up to $1,000) for new renewable energy projects completed in 2012.   Lowering costs is an important part of growing the solar energy industry so that it can create new jobs, improve energy security, and provide clean, renewable energy for American families and businesses.

The Cruelest Miles by Gay Salisbury

Adult Non-Fiction 614.5123 SAL

Reviewed by Linda J.

This is one of the best books that I have read recently. It is the true story of an outbreak of diptheria in Nome, Alaska in 1925. During winter, Nome is completely isolated from the rest of the world, the only access is by dog sled over hundreds of miles of frozen tundra, across mountains and water. In order to get the life-saving serum to Nome's dying children, a relay of mushers and dog teams is organized to transport the medicine, at great danger to the men and dogs involved. It is an amazing and heart-warming tale of man's and dog's courage in the face of almost unimaginable conditions.
