Books to Movies
The Park City Library invites you to a "Books to Movies" program on Wednesday, March 23rd. Before the program, read An Unfinished Life by Mark Spragg. Then, come to the library on Wednesday, March 23rd at 6:00 p.m. to watch the movie based on the book. A brief discussion will follow and attendees will have a chance to vote for the next "Book to Movie" program. The event will take place in the Roger Harlan Meeting Room. Park City Library Goes Green! | |
The Park City Library will be celebrating Earth Day in April with some new Environmental Items for our collection. We have several new DVDs including: "Dirt! The Movie", "The Antarctica Challenge: a Global Warning", "Planet in Peril: A CNN Investigation", and "Gasland: Can You Light Your Water on Fire?" Some of our new book titles are: "Slow Death by Rubber Duck: The Secret Danger of Everyday Things" by Rick Smith, "Diet for a Hot Planet: The Climate Crisis at the End of Your Fork and What You Can Do About It" by Anna Lappe, and "Power Trip: From Oil Wells to Solar Cells - Our Ride to the Renewable Future" by Amanda Little. Stop by the Library and "GO GREEN" with us by checking out some of these interesting and informative new items. |

Peter Rabbit Tea
Thursday, April 7th 4:15-5:30 PM
Sign up for our annual Peter Rabbit celebration...complete with tea, refreshments, door prizes, stories, games and a craft. The tea is recommended for ages 5 and up. The program is free, however registration is required. Sign up at the front desk between March 21st-April 1st to reserve your spot!
Preschool Pioneer: School Readiness Resource for Preschoolers and Their Caregivers

Did you know the Utah State Library offers an online collection of high quality educational resources for preschoolers, K-12 and college students, and library patrons? You can access the information by going to http://pioneer-library.org or to the Park City Library website at www.parkcitylibrary.org
and clicking on Public Pioneer. You will need your library card number to access some of the databases.
Preschool Pioneer is where kids ages 3 to 6 go to click, learn, and grow! Utah Educational Network (UEN) created the free site to give preschool age children, their parents and caregivers trustworthy educational resources and multiple ways to develop school readiness skills. The site features familiar PBS programs and characters to encourage young children to have fun while developing school readiness skills for reading, numeracy, and community awareness. The interactive website is found at http://preschool.uen.organd includes games, printables, links for parents and caregivers, and a calendar of Utah activities and events for families with young children. The site is accessible via the Internet in homes and libraries. |

National Library Week
Park City Library invites you to come celebrate National Library Week with us from April 10th - 16th, 2011. This year's theme is "Create your own story @ your library." On Monday, April 11th author Bobbie Pyron will join us for a community celebration to talk about her new book A Dog's Way Home. We will have crafts for kids and treats for the whole family. In April check the library website, www.parkcitylibrary.org, for more information.
LearningExpress Library
Free access to a new on-line resource for job searching, career guidance, test preparation and basic skills improvement is now available to library card holders. Practice tests, exercises, skill-building courses, and eBooks can be utilized via the library's link to Pioneer Databases located on the library website at www.parkcitylibrary.org.
The resources available from LearningExpress are available 24 hours a day and can help users to:
· Prepare for licensing and certification exams in health care, civil service, law enforcement, and the military.
· Score higher on college and graduate school admissions tests, and achieve advanced placement and college credit.
· Master the most popular computer applications used in today's workplace.
· Conduct an effective job search, utilizing step-by-step guidance and powerful resume building and search tools.
· Improve basic skills in reading, writing, and math.
· Utilize over 150 career and academic eBooks.
There will be a class at the library on Wednesday, March 16th from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. on how to use LearningExpress and what it offers.
