 Community Parent Education Seminar Saturday, January 21, 2012
8:30 AM - 12:30 PM
Come join us for a morning of educational and parenting strategies to make your role as a parent inspired as you head into 2012. Topics will include:
- Learning with Nature
- Making Music with Children
- The Purpose of Play in Development and Learning of Young Children
- Homework Strategies
- Taming the Food Battles with Your Children

Preschool Enrichment

Preschool Enrichment started today! This session will include the choice to do either Tuesdays or Thursdays or both! The two and half hours includes Lunch Bunch, Specialist time (Music and Spanish) and a fun-filled academic hour with Teacher Diana. If you have any questions, please contact either Teacher Diana (Preschool) or Niki in the office.

GHA Fifth Grader Brandon Hitchcock was recognized with an
Award for High Honors from
The Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth
Brandon was presented with the award for being among the highest scoring participants in the 2011 International Mathematics and Verbal Talent Search. He received the highest honor of "Top in Country" for the quantitative portion of the SCAt testing. The High Honors awards are given to the top third of those that take the test. The Top in Country is the highest score in the U.S.
Congratulations Brandon for receiving this highest of honors!

It's hard to believe but our Spring Book Fair is just around the corner. This year we planned it to coincide with Read Across America and Dr. Seuss's Birthday. We are planning some new fun to help celebrate these occasions and promote our book fair. If you are interested in helping to plan these events please join Maureen Brekke and Marci Hardy on Monday, January, 9th at 2:00 PM in the preschool room for a planning meeting.

For $1.00 you can purchase yummy treats provided by the PreK class. Proceeds go to support GHA! Snack sale is available during lunch for Prekindergarten through 5th grade and after school. You may send a dollar to school with your child or buy a $20.00 snack card that can be used towards purchases.
