Annual Fund
| |
Thanks to everyone who has already donated to the Annual Fund. Through your generosity we have made significant progress toward meeting our budgeted goal, however we are still looking for 100% participation! Let's get those challenge grants from the Board, which has raised from $723.00 per class to $778.00 per class!
Ask yourself: "How much is GHA and our awesome teachers, wonderful friends and beautiful campus worth to me and my family?"
Is it worth $64? Give up your daily coffee fix for a month.
Is it worth a day's salary? Work a day for GHA.
Is it worth $1000 or more? Join the 60% of current donors who have contributed $1000 - $5000.
We know you value GHA not just as a school but as a community. Please help keep GHA strong. Make your pledge or donation to GHA NOW!
***Please note: A week ago we invited interested families to personalize and send letters to family members asking for donations to the annual fund. Based on some responses, we are going to delay sending letters ourselves until the end of next week. Again, please let us know if you have sent your own letter so we don't solicit anyone twice.
Presented by Annual Fund Co-Chairs Erik White (Kindergarten parent) and Roberta Polk (Pre-K and 4th Grade parent).

Give or Pledge to GHA NOW! today.

Head of School Search
| |

Search Committee Update
The Search Committee met to review the application files of all candidates for Head of School on Thursday, October 20th. We had 40 applicants from a variety of backgrounds (private schools, public schools, nonprofit organizations and business).
Our applicant pool represented significant diversity of geography, ethnicity, and gender as follows:
60% from Washington, 40% out-of-state
57% male, 43% female
From this initial group we selected six applicants for semifinalist status who will interview with us in the first half of November. Our semifinalist group includes 3 men and 3 women; 3 are currently in western Washington and 3 are from out of state. We anticipate narrowing the pool to 2 or 3 finalists who will then come to campus in early December for a chance to meet with people throughout our school community (parents, students, faculty, and administrative staff). Any questions or comments about the search process can be directed to the search input email or to a search committee member.

Kindergarten Bat Studies
|

Last Thursday, Kindergartners added to their schema about bat's physical characteristics, diet, habitat, and prey. Then they discussed nonfiction features with Usborne's book Bats, pointing out their new learnings. They also read a Weekly Reader Night Life about bats, found adjectives, nouns, and prepositions in 3 bat sentences, completed a bat maze, an easy bat word search, and attempted a challenging bat word search. The kids went batty for bats!

Family Businesses

Click Here to go to the Family Business Web Page which is up and running, but still under construction. Kaukiki Farm - World Quality, Raised Locally, Naturally! Kaukiki Farm is a local, family farm dedicated to the production of healthy, naturally raised livestock that you can place in your pastures or on your dinner table with trust. We raise our animals on plenty of fresh grass, hay, and sunshine with minimal grain. This produces flavorsome cuts of meat that are tender & tasty but not laden with fat. Our animals grow at their own natural pace, on a daily diet free of growth hormones and antibiotics. It does take longer to produce animals this way, but we feel the taste is worth the wait! We are now taking orders for Angus Beef, luscious lamb, and pasture paradise pork for November and December delivery.
