Global Hispanic Festival

Hispanic Festival - K

On May 6th, students from Prekindergarten - Fifth grade participated in a Global Hispanic Fiesta. Starting at lunch time the kids enjoyed culinary delights from Puerto Vallarta and then took their little taco stuffed bellies outside to entertain the crowd of family and friends. The children sang, danced, and put on a short play speaking entirely in Spanish. After the entertainment, the crowd participated in a futbol game with the kids and salsa dancing lessons from Studio 6 Ballroom.

It was the goal of the Spanish teachers, Xinia Agee and Ilene Wider, to not only showcase the accomplishments of the students, but to also promote cultural awareness. "Our students have worked really hard this year learning to communicate in the Spanish language," says Ilene Wider. "While not an immersion program, our students are very well prepared to take on more challenging programs offered in middle and high schools.  The younger students learn through songs, stories and games while our older kids are writing and speaking at a middle school level."

The Global Hispanic Fiesta was a huge success and fun for all that attended. Thank you to Seņora Agee and Seņora Wider for all your hard work on this most successful event. Congratulations!

Little & Big Kids Night Was a Blast

Jump 1Little Kids Night at JUMP! was full of frolicking fun, laughs and of course, jumping. And even after a dinner of pizza and dessert of brownies the kids jumped some more! I was exhausted just watching.

Jump 2

Thank you to JUMP! for the donation of the use of their facility and thank you to SFN President, Cristina McDougall for planning the evenings' events.

For more information on JUMP please click on the above pictures.

Big Kids Night

Two days after Little Kids Night at JUMP! it was time for the big kids to have some fun with Big Kids Night In held at the Gig Harbor Academy campus. The kids immediately settled in with watching the movie Cats and Dogs on a big screen. After the movie, the kids enjoyed dinner and then played BINGO. The rest of the evening the kids showed off their creative side with arts and crafts, participated in games (twister and chess), and played with LegosŪ.

Thank you to Rob and Cristina McDougall, Mr. Funk, Mrs. Felton, and Mr. Shoup for helping out with the night's events.
