Class Spotlight
Preschool Hatching Eggs!

Preschool Eggs

For 21 days, preschool will be studying the life cycle of an egg to a chicken. They will document the day to day changes that the egg goes through in preparation of turning into a chicken. They will even get a glimpse of the veins and eventually the heartbeat of the chicken in the egg by a process called candling. The week of the 23rd will be the hatching week where the children will observe these Crossed Americana Chickens finally come out of their shells!

Kindergarten Makes Zarapes

K in sarapes

This week in kindergarten the theme was all about Mexico. Wednesday the fifth grade class helped the kindergartners make their own zarape. The zarape (pronounced "serape" in English, sometimes "sarape") is similar to a poncho. It is long blanket-like shawl, often brightly colored and fringed at the ends, worn especially by Mexican men. The word "sarape" is also referred to as a very soft rectangular blanket with an opening in the middle for one's head.
