From The Sandbox

In the spirit of "Kids Say the Darndest Things", I would like to share a cute interaction I had with a T/TH Preschooler last week.

Child: "Ms. Niki," the little girl says as she stared at a half-eaten laughing boybag of little cheesy rabbit snacks.

Me: "Yes," I answer.

Child: "I don't like these cheesy rabbits."

Me: "Why is that?"

Child: "Because they have organic in them!"

CentsPowerPoint Shows How Other  Students Can Get Involved

Jok Nhial of the Liliir Education Project was very impressed with the second grade class at Gig Harbor Academy for how much they knew and cared about Sudan when he visited in January.

As a thank you, he created a short PowerPoint of what the GHA students did and is using it as a model for other schools to follow, while also advertising GHA!

The Liliir Education Project is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to help promote and enhance literacy and education in war-torn Southern Sudan.

Submit Student Entry Form For Poster Contest

GHA could win $500Safety First through contest

Mrs. Johnson, our P.E. teacher, has been working with all GHA students to create poster entries into the Safety Awareness Poster Contest sponsored by Gig Harbor Fire & Rescue.

The school with the highest percentage of entries will win $500 for safety-related equipment. Since GHA is small, we have a really good chance of winning. All we ask is that parents please print out the entry form, sign it and return it to school so that all student entries can be submitted before the deadline. Click here to print the entry form.

Entry forms due back to school by Monday, March 28!

If GHA friends and families donate $1,000 to the YMCA Strong Kids campaign, they will hang a banner with our school name on it! This is a win-win for the YMCA and GHA, but hurry, the campaign is ending soon and the Y needs your support to continue their youth programs. Campaign ends today Thursday, March 24th at closing time of the Y.
