Town HallThank you to everyone that was able to attend the Town Hall Meeting on Thursday, February 16th. For those of you who were unable to make it, we will be emailing all families the PowerPoint presentation that was given by Mr. Shoup that evening. Please feel free to contact Mr. Shoup if you have any questions about next year's tuition schedule or about the information presented at the meeting. You may also contact Niki Vanderford with any re-enrollment or admissions questions. We look forward to hearing your comments and addressing any concerns.

Parent-Teacher Conferences

green horizontal jpg

All GHA teachers will host parent-teacher conferences on Thursday, March 3rd and Friday, March 4th.  This is a great time to connect with your child's teacher and find out how your child is progressing this year. There is no school on either of these days to accommodate conferences. Please see the sign up sheet at each teacher's classroom to schedule your conference.

Grades First through Fifth - Science Fair

Science Fair 1All students grades 1-5 participated in the GHA science fair tonight from 6:00 - 7:30 PM. Grades 1 & 2 conducted their experiments as a class and grades 3-5 conducted experiments on their own. All students used the scientific method as a way to ask and answer scientific questions by making observations and doing then doing experiments to answer the question being asked.

The steps of the scientific method are to:

  • Ask a Question
  • Do Background Research
  • Construct a Hypothesis
  • Test Your Hypothesis by Doing an Experiment
  • Analyze Your Data and Draw a Conclusion
  • Communicate Your Results

Science Fair 2

The students learned the importance of making their experiment be a fair test. A "fair test" occurs when you change only one factor (variable) and keep all other conditions the same.

 Science Fair 3

Some questions that were asked were:

  • Will it sink or float?
  • What shoes will make you jump farther?
  • What type of flour produces the best cake?
  • Will heat or cold affect the bounce height of a rubber ball?
  • Who can determine the smells of certain scents better? Girls or Boys?

Science Fair 4

We are all very proud of your children who presented their science experiments with clarity and enthusiasm. Their creativity and attention to detail was astounding.
