Fairfax County Council of PTAs
August 12, 2011

Greetings!

PTA presidents are invited to the Fairfax County Council of PTA's "Get a Jump Start for a Successful PTA Year!" seminar next Thursday, August 18 and the following Thursday, August 25.  Both seminars will be from 7:30 to 9:00 pm at the FCPS Gatehouse Administrative Center Cafe located at 8115 Gatehouse Rd., Falls Church, Virginia, 22042.

This is an excellent opportunity to network and gain valuable PTA information, pick-up PTA Membership Cards and find out about the many resources available through PTA.

A group of seasoned PTA Leaders will be available for you to ask and receive answers to those troubling PTA questions, such as:

  • Where do I begin?  What can and can't our PTA do?
  • Is our principal on our Executive Committee?
  • What is the difference between the Executive Committee and Executive Board?
  • What committee chairs do we need?
  • We haven't had an audit.  Now what?
  • Where do I go for additional resources or materials?
  • Why do we need Bylaws?
  • Why do we pay National, State, and Council dues?
  • How do I deal with difficult situations?
  • Do we have to do it the same way?
  • Is it OK to buy computers for all the 5th graders?
  • Can we...?
  • Come prepared to ask all your questions!

Get information on how to revise your BYLAWS!  The process and where to find the resource material you need will be discussed.

2011-12 National PTA Membership Cards will be available for pick-up!

Northern Virginia District PTA will host the 2011 Northern Regional Leadership Training on Saturday, September 17 from 8:00 am to 12:45 pm at Lake Braddock Secondary School, 9200 Burke Lake Road, Burke, Virginia.  Click HERE To Register!  Online Registration deadline is September 15.
