LOL at Reader's Theater - May 18 - 20
The Theater Project, 14 School Street, presents The Center Stage Players in LOL (or "Laughing Out Loud"), a collection of comedic pieces illustrating human foibles. The show features some original material, including a segment that highlights the idiosyncrasies of the Center Stage Players themselves. Performances will take place Friday at 7 pm and 2 pm on Saturday and Sunday. All tickets are Pay-What-You-Want, with a suggested price of $5. No reservations required. 18th Annual Brunswick Bike Rodeo / Family Safety Day - May 19
The Brunswick Rotary Club in conjunction with the Town of Brunswick Parks & Recreation and Police Departments, Merrymeeting Wheelers, Walmart, Mid Coast Hospital and Center Street Cycles are sponsoring this event at the Brunswick Walmart parking lot, Saturday from 9 am to noon. FREE and open to the public, there will be bike safety checks, assistance with helmet adjustments, and a bike safety course. Upon completion of the course, kids can enter a drawing for a new bicycle. They'll even provide helmets for children who do not have them. Over 12 local and regional public safety organizations are also participating with static and interactive displays. Deadline for Early Bird Special for Parkview Golf Classic - May 22
The deadline for the special pricing offer on the Friends of Parkview Adventist Medical Center Auxiliary's Eleventh Annual Golf Classic has been extended to May 22nd for BDA members. The price, with the price break ($25 off per player) is $100 per golfer and includes breakfast, greens fees and cart, lunch and awards ceremony. The tournament will take place on July 10th at the Brunswick Golf Club. Proceeds benefit projects sponsored by the Friends of Parkview Auxiliary, which raises money for improving community wellness, health services, and to provide state-of-the-art equipment to Parkview. Every Little Step Documentary Screening - May 23
Maine State Music Theater will present this award-winning documentary on Wednesday at 7 pm at Frontier Cafe and Cinema in Fort Andross, followed by a Q&A session with two members of the cast of the original Broadway production of A Chorus Line. The documentary highlights the phenomenon of the musical and its recent Broadway revival and relates it to the cultures in which it was performed. Mt. Ararat (MTA) High School Senior Art Display - May 31 & June 7
Thursday, at 6:15 pm an art exhibit featuring work from MTA seniors will be held in the school lobby. And Thursday, June 7, there will be an undergraduate art exhibit held in the high school lobby as well. Both exhibits will be extra special since Sheila Bohlin, the inspirational and beloved Head of the MTA Art Department for 38 years, will be retiring at the end of this academic year. Downtown Brunswick Window Box/Planter Competition - entries due June 1
This summer, Brunswick's Village Improvement Association will conduct this competition among Brunswick businesses on or near Maine and Pleasant Streets. Any live floral beautification that enhances the exterior appearance of a business will be eligible. Entries will be judged in mid-July. Prizes include $250 for 1st place, $200 for 2nd place, several non-monetary certificates awarded for Honorable Mentions, as well as a $100 prize for Best New Entry.
