Greetings!

say cheese Say CHEESE! As you know, most of our readers and clients are located out of town, from Paducah, Murray and the lakes area to other states in the U. S.

We've challenged ourselves to record a head-shot of each client to help us see each person as an individual with a unique story - not just a number.

Now if only I could find a camera that subtracted 10 pounds!

Tip of the Month: In the event of your death...

In July, I attended UK's annual Estate Planning Institute in Lexington. Some of the brightest legal minds in the country present ideas and creative tips for those who do estate planning - which is not just for the "1%" (contrary to popular opinion).

This month and next, I'm putting together a nice little summary of the most relevant information gleaned from two days of listening to lawyers. Lawyers are the butt of a lot of funny jokes - sometimes deserved - but I happen to know that there are many kind, bright, and decent advocates out there, and I believe we have some of the best here in the Bluegrass State.

This month, you're invited
to view some of our favorite random tools use around here. And I do mean random.

First,  free site Dropbox has been a lifesaver for working away from our desks. It allows us to save files securely to our own personal online "lockers" so that we can access them just about any time and place we are so inclined. You can also set up folders to share with others, which is useful for collaborations.

Next, I have fallen head over heels in love with Audible, a subscription

service that allows you to listen to books over your smartphone, iPod, etc. If you, like me, love to read but can't find the time, this is the answer. I've gotten through books, both business and for pleasure, that I never would have had time to sit down and read, often while driving or at home doing laundry, cooking, etc. Trust me, it's a great substitute for being glued to the TV.
As a   huge fan of keyboard shortcuts (yep, random info) I'm addicted to Shift+F7, the thesaurus shortcut. Just highlight a word and hit Shift+F7 to get a handy thesaurus. Try it and enhance  develop  improve your writing skills.

Finally, if you're having a bad day, visit Dog-Shaming and I bet you feel better - c'mon, you've got to smile...at least until you realize you just blew 30 minutes of a formerly productive day looking at new shames...

(Almost) Famous Recipes of the Month: A Sharp Kiss

This month's theme is "Greek meets Italian" pasta. As many of you know, James Koinis, my partner at Fox & Company, CPA, is of Greek descent. I made this dish because of the abundance of tomatoes shared by neighbors (thanks, Mark Gardner!) and threw in a lot of fresh herbs from A sharp kissthe backyard. James pronounced it μεγαλοπρεπής ("megaloprepis" if you want to say it out loud which means "MAGNIFICENT!")

OK, my conscience is killing me. The only Greek words James learned to say growing up are unprintable in a family newsletter, but my wicked imagination got the best of me. So I Googled how to say "delicious" in Italian and here's what "Evil Joe" reported: "It's delizioso. And then make sure you give a sharp kiss to your finger tips."

So with a sharp kiss, we present "End of the Summer Greek-Style Pasta". mmmmmmmmm in every language.
And maybe someday James will go to Greece and learn a few nice words...we'll let you know.

In Closing...

We had a great time at Graves County school system's orientation in August. Amy Perdue was our Kindle winner while Cheryl Goodman and Kim Gross both won Amazon gift certificates! By the way, we specialize in working with school employees. Would you like for us to meet with the faculty at your school to discuss money management, how to choose benefits, or preparing for retirement? There is no charge and we answer your money questions. Give Michelle a call or shoot her an email and we'll try to arrange a time to visit.
What is your financial fingerprint?
