Greetings!

Wall Street3 Ho ho ho! December is here - the last month of the year. The client party is just around the corner and St. Nick is putting the final touches to his list. It's a very exciting time - and also the calm before the storm that we call tax season!
You may recall that the Wall Street Journal included this newsletter in an October feature about publications written by financial advisors across America. Two weeks ago, they called again, this time to interview advisors for an article about unusually successful super-small funds. We're hoping to see the article in the Journal later this month and will post a link if we do make print again. In the meantime, find out which fund I chose (and why) in our Fund Find of the Month below!

Fund Find of the Month:

Big Things in a Small Package
Invest wisley Last month's Fund Find was the giant-esque Sequoia (SEQUX) fund. But if huge, overcrowded funds aren't your style, you may be interested in this month's Fund Find. Off-the-beaten path funds may be a well-kept secret but this one has a stellar track history that you might want to keep on your short list of funds-to-take-a-look-at. Even better, the fund's manager boringly sticks to old-fashioned principles of buying quality companies and selling when the price goes up!

Tip of the Month: You Are at Risk (The Latest Twist on ID Theft)

bustedIdentity thieves have a sinister new target- ignore the risk at the peril of yourself and those closest to you. This month, we begin a two-part series detailing why your son or granddaughter may possess something so tempting that criminals just can't keep their hands (and computers) away. In next month's article, we'll tell you what to do so that you can keep your family from being victims of this outrageous practice!

(Almost) Famous Recipes of the Month: Christmas Traditions

BRKs Broccoli Ramen Salad Delicious Broccoli Ramen Salad comes from my friend, Robin Joss, at Big Red Kitchen. She runs my favorite foodie blog which I love because: a) all of her recipes are easy, b) all of her recipes taste good, and c) she's wicked funny! I made this for the kids last Christmas and it's already on the request list for this year's celebration. The color is perfect for a Christmas meal and the flavors really pop - give it a try!Date balls

Date balls are another family favorite and one of those recipes that you might be tempted to pass up because of the name (you know, dates sound icky, foreign, like health food, etc) so just call them something else - like Heavenly Candy Balls. Easy to make, everybody likes them, and they keep forever - what else could you ask for? Michelle insists I provide her with a batch of her own every Christmas!

In Closing...

As this year draws to an end, I've been reflecting on the everyday blessings we receive all year long that go unacknowledged...an undeserved kind word, a smile from a stranger, a kind listening attitude. Must we wait until New Year's Day resolutions to promise ourselves we will cherish grace in small portions? I've resolved to begin each day with an attitude of gratitude for the abundance in my life including the wonderful people who surround and encourage me. And of course, that includes a special thanks to you, our faithful readers!

Wishing you and your family all the best for Christmas and the whole year through!
