Greetings!
| I'll be honest: 'm not a fan of the American Association of Retired People (AARP), but I realize they offer many good incentives for members. Many clients tell me feel "trapped" into using AARP. We've got good news for you - the Association of Mature American Citizens (AMAC), was formed to be your conservative option for seniors and Americans age 50+. AMAC offers comparable discounts on insurance and many other benefits. Membership is just $16/year per couple. The Bobfather and I have joined, and I suggest you check it out! (This is my personal opinion, not a paid sponsorship.)

Fund Find of the Month:
A Once In A Lifetime Chance?
| Some of the tallest trees in the world are the redwoods in Muir National Park. Another name for this tree is the Sequoia, which also happens to be the moniker of a mighty mutual fund that has been a giant of the investing world since its 1992 inception. read more...

(Almost) Famous Recipes of the Month: Give Thanks for Cranberries
| If you've been a reader for at least a year, you may recall our "Cranberry Consciousness Column" in 2010. If you missed it, please start here to properly begin your journey with cranberries. (Now that you mention it, we actually sneaked in another opportunity in July. And spell-check just told me that snuck is not a word. Am I the only one that didn't know that?) For those of you who are craving cranberries, we're again calling on the memory of my boy's beloved Granny for these dishes - she absolutely shined at Thanksgiving.
Above is THE Cranberry Salad you will want from now on at your Thanksgiving table. One of the best features of this salad is that it freezes beautifully and you can have Thanksgiving throughout the year (with the extra dressing you've frozen!)
In case you don't want your family too stuffed on Thanksgiving morning, our super-moist almond-flavored Cranberry Coffee Cake actually makes a fantastic Christmas breakfast present for your family. The recipe makes a beautiful Bundt cake using canned whole cranberry sauce - be sure to let the little ones drizzle the icing over the top.

We're already in our busy season and it's only November! Many of you see Michelle as our receptionist, but she's far more than that. In addition to having her MBA, she is in training to become a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ in order to be be another resource for financial planning and investment clients as our business grows. Michelle attended the NAPFA Financial Planning Fundamentals conference in Arlington Heights, IL on October 10 - 14. She had classes from 7am until 9 pm and was glad to get back to her "easy" job in the office...here she is hard at work in class!
Then I was off to Brooklyn for a week for the NAPFA Practice Management and Investments Conference for the last week in October. I was privileged to meet with many of the planners described in this Field Guide to finding a financial advisor. Brooklyn was a great place to stay and I was able to both walk across the Brooklyn Bridge and avoid the Occupy Wall Street protesters.
Coming up this month is our annual firm retreat to prepare for tax season. December 4th is our annual Christmas Client Open House, held at my house, to show our appreciation to our fantastic clients. The open house is a highlight of the year with lots of fabulous prizes and even better food. Clients, please save the date (and pray we don't have a repeat of last year's ice storm on the big day!)
Hugs and God bless,
