Greetings!
| As I write this, we are finally able to hang up our umbrellas and get to know the sun again! Many of our readers and their families have been touched by flood, tornados, and other weather-related events and our prayers go out to you. On a lighter note, we're excited to finally have a new logo! Also, be sure to visit our home page, where you'll find new videos, produced, directed, and artistically staged by none other than Michelle! |
Fund Find of the Month:
A New Take on an Old Favorite
| Any guesses as to the theme of this month's Fund Find of the Month? Let's see... cookie with blue chocolate chips... blue chocolate chips...blue...chips? Of course, our readers are seriously brainy, so we'll dispense with the juvenile humor. If you would like to know more about our "mystery" fund, you'll just have to read more...

Tip of the Month:
6 Kinds of Insurance You Should Know About
| I have to admit, the insurance ads on TV are some of my favorites. Who doesn't get a kick out of watching Flo selling her boxes of "off-the-shelf" insurance? Or, the super-sensitive cavemen (and where have they been lately)? Beyond the cleverness, though, what's really important for you to know? There are all kinds of insurance to protect all kinds of exposure - what does the gecko know that you don't?
Beyond the cleverness, though, it's important for you to understand which insurance coverage is right for you. What do you need to know that the gecko doesn't?

(Almost) Famous Recipes of the Month: Color it Yellow
| I planned over a month ago to feature yellow food (the color of daffodils) in honor of spring for this month. So the daffodils all drowned - gone but not forgotten with these delicious dishes! We're starting with another recipe from the boys' "Granny": Pepper-Jack Squash Casserole. I've not seen this version elsewhere. If you have any affection for squash at all, I think you'll find it quite tasty. What do you eat after all that squash?
How about Lemon Love Notes, a yummy little bar cookie that is both custardy-moist on top and buttery-crumbly on the bottom. And how can you resist making bar cookies with such a precious name? This recipe was given to me by Mayfield's own Catherine Dunn when we were in our 20's, a few years and several pounds ago. We've known each other since 2nd grade and swapped cookies, child-care, and churches through the years. Top of page

Cash Conservation 101
protecting your dollars from extinction
| Going green - it's more than color choice these days. Are you more likely to do business with a company that encourages you to save a tree, recycle, or clean the environment?
Many mutual fund families have "green funds" that some investors are excited about. Read more...

In Closing...
In case you noticed that this newsletter smooshes both April and May into one, I could fib and say I was too busy with tax season to prepare the April issue, but I also had an excuse to get out of part of tax season. Unscheduled back surgery will do the trick every time. My first day back at work, the Bobfather decided to share bronchitis with me - and I was home for another week. Fortunately, we've got a wonderful group of office warriors, including James the Technology Guru who was able to s et up most everything I needed at home to finish the necessities. But as important as all of our readers truly are to us, it was either publish the newsletter or review tax returns. We'll go back to monthly issues with June unless another part goes out.
God bless,
