Greetings!
This evening, Imagine Greater Tucson will be holding the sixth, and final, of our Scenario Building Workshops. This marks the culmination of a six-week effort in which community members from across the region have come together to visualize a future for greater Tucson that aligns with our expressed values. Following this evening, more than 600 citizens will have participated in a workshop, producing more than 100 maps, each representing a different alternative future for the region. These maps, and related additional information, are currently being processed and digitized by graduate students in planning from the University of Arizona College of Architecture, and will soon be sent on for preliminary analysis to Fregonese Associates, our national consultant. During the analysis period, lasting roughly three months, IGT will begin its transition to and preparation for the fall; when we will be bringing the results from the workshops to the public and will be asking you to contribute to the development of a preferred future scenario for the region.
As part of the transition to the fall program, and based on the changing needs of the organization, Imagine Greater Tucson and Director Eileen Fagan have agreed to a mutual separation effective immediately. A successor for the position has yet to be identified, but doing so is of the very highest priority and steps in that regard are already being undertaken. In the meantime, IGT will continue to focus on achieving both the short and long-term goals of this process that will ultimately result in an agreed-upon vision for the future of this region. We wish Eileen the best of luck and thank her for the genuine passion with which she did her job each day, and for all that she has contributed to the success of this effort. Imagine Greater Tucson is a stronger organization for her having been part of it.
