How to Buy Used Equipment
Before you even start looking at forklift you need to determine exactly what you need the forklift to do.
- How heavy and what size are your typical loads?
- How high do you need to lift the load?
- Will you be using it indoors, outdoors, or both?.
- How much room do you have to maneuver? How wide are your narrowest aisles?
- How many hours a day will it be used?
These answers will help you determine exactly what kind of forklift you will need.
Buying a forklift does not have to be a monumental capital expenditure. In certain material handling situations, a used forklift makes fiscal sense. Consider buying a used forklift if:
- The truck will be used for a single shift.
- The forklift will be used for no more than four hours a day.
- The forklift will work no more than five days per week.
- The operation is not a high-throughput, nonstop type.
