USS Monitor: A Historic Ship Completes Its Final Voyage

Quibbles aside, this is a remarkable book that provides a broader and deeper appreciation for the greatness of John Ericsson's Monitor and for the work of nautical archaeologists who retrieve and preserve our maritime legacy.

Shore Duty: A Year in Vietnam's Junk Force

The role that the United States Navy played in the Vietnam Conflict is well known; but there are still gaps. Stewart Harris, a former U.S. Navy lieutenant who served as an advisor to one such unit, has ably filled one of these gaps with his well-researched and very readable account.

British Heavy Cruisers 1939-45

Overall, this is a very nice book for those seeking an introductory look at British World War II heavy cruisers. The photos and artwork, particularly the cutaway drawing of Cornwall and the profile drawings of the different classes in various camouflage schemes within the book, give a nice visual clarification to the author's words.

In the 2012 edition of The Shenandoah Affair, author Paul Williams provides lay historians with an expanded edition of his 1992 historical novel about the adventures of CSS Shenandoah in Australia. This is a wonderful book for those who enjoy mixing business with pleasure.
