Your Voice Matters: Legislative Update
As a result of all your efforts and support, the Senate has passed an amendment that allows state Adult Foster Care programs to maintain their current level of service. It is still not clear whether or not Day Habilitation will receive a 5% decrease, but we have sent our message loud and clear and have won the support of legislators who are working to protect these vital services. This progress would not be possible without your tremendous efforts to contact your legislators and your attendance at the legislative breakfasts this past May.
While we have not yet won a direct care salary increase this year, thank you to those who traveled to the state house on May 19th to meet with Senators and those who contacted their legislators to advocate for the human services community. The fight is not yet over; stayed tuned for more legislative action opportunities in the future.
Senator Karen Spilka was one of the many local legislators that spoke and answered questions during the May Legislative Breakfast at the Plymouth Church
in Framingham.
The local human services community packed the Plymouth Church to advocate for their community.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the Toyota 100 Cars for Good Program on May 25th. Your tremendous efforts to rally the Advocates community landed us in second place! Even though we did not win the wheelchair accessible Toyota for our residents with developmental disabilities, your dedication helped to bring our community together and spread the word about this important work to a much wider audience. We greatly appreciate your time and hard work to share this opportunity your friends and family.

Advocates' mission is to help people achieve their hopes and dreams within the fabric of their communities. We partner with people with disabilities, elders, and those with other challenges to overcome personal obstacles and societal barriers so that they can obtain and keep homes, engage in work and other meaningful activities, and sustain satisfying relationships. We work to inspire communities to create opportunities for contribution and participation by all.
Thank you to the judges, probation offices, clinicians, police and district attorneys who joined us at the Drug Court Leadership Conference and for supporting the Drug Court. Thank you Ken Bates and all who helped organize this wonderful event!
