A Taste of Mexico
Photo courtesy of Gerry Wigg It was another beautiful evening on the riverfront November 29th at Rivera Cuale as we joined with El Arrayán restaurant to host the Taste of Mexico event. The professional wait staff whisked drinks and freshly made appetizers to the tables as guests socialized by the pool. Next came dinner, Cochinita Pibil - slow cooked pork leg, then dessert, Dulce de Camote - yams with dark sugar and cinnamon. The evening was accompanied by the live music of Los Frixoleros as well as a Veracruz dance performance by Lilly. Over 80 guests including many of our Rivera Cuale owners attended, making the evening a great success. Thanks to all who came! Click here to see photos. |

Greetings!
It's that time again...time to acknowledge that another year has passed in the blink of an eye and that a new year is upon us. We sure do appreciate your ongoing support - and since you're reading our newsletter, yes, we mean you!
Rivera Cuale has started the high season on a high note, having sold a few more units in the last couple of months. Our most recent was just this past week, unit 103, and shortly before that was our last penthouse, PH1-B. We congratulate our new owners from Pleasant Hills and Napa, California! We know that you too are considering becoming part of the Rivera Cuale family and look forward to welcoming you.
Watch for your opportunity to personally meet some of our owners and view their homes in January - more info to come.
Wishing you and yours the best for this Holiday Season!

New Funding for Puerto Vallarta
By Estelle Eisen, Rivera Cuale
The Mexican Government has just announced its budget for 2012. A recent issue of Vallarta Opina, a daily local newspaper, reports that an investment of almost 400 million pesos (more than 30 million dollars) has been budgeted for Puerto Vallarta and the Municipal Bay of Banderas. This money is earmarked for ongoing as well as new public works and improvements. This is an historical sum of money for our municipality, and will serve to strengthen the infrastructure of our area.
Here are some of the improvements slated: about 200 million pesos has been dedicated to a project already underway - the hydraulic cement resurfacing of Highway 200 from the south end of the city to El Tuito - a town about an hour's drive south. Another 65 million pesos will go to finish the second tunnel, begun last May, and already quite far along in its construction parallel to the first tunnel on the Libramiento (city bypass). This will help ease traffic congestion in the city. On a light note, the first tunnel was done by hand some 30+ years ago, and took several years to complete.

The Guadalupe Processions - The Whole Story
By Estelle Eisen, Rivera Cuale
My absolute favorite time of the year in Puerto Vallarta is the Guadalupe Processions. To judge from the onlookers, most Vallartans share my feelings. This is by far the most interesting cultural event that we have in our city. For twelve days, from December 1st to 12th, the Guadalupe Cathedral in the center of Puerto Vallarta (the church with the crown) receives procession after procession, each accompanied by a float bearing a young woman representing the Virgin of Guadalupe, a green shroud bedecked with golden stars covering her head, These processions continue from afternoon until midnight or later every day. There are literally hundreds during the twelve days.
It does create a bit of havoc with downtown traffic. But from Rivera Cuale Condominiums, enjoying the processions is hassle free. A short walk into town, 15 minutes max, and you are at the Cathedral; no traffic jams, no parking problems. Enjoy the floats, take photos, taste the traditional foods on the square, and then a short easy walk back home.
A brief history of the visitation of the Virgin:
The appearance of Our Lady of Guadalupe to the Aztec Indian Juan Diego in December of 1531 generated the conversion of Mexico, Central and South America to Catholicism. Indeed, the Blessed Virgin Mary entered the very life stream of Central America and became an inextricable part of Mexican life and a central figure to the history of Mexico itself.
