As we continue selling our award-winning condos, Rivera Cuale listens to client comments. We have periodically made changes to our inventory to accommodate the changing economy and clients' requests. When our buyers tell us they want smaller condos, we respond, as we previously did by splitting some of our very large 3-bedroom condos, like unit 501. By creating more limited edition 1 and 2-bedroom floor plans, we have opened up more opportunities for condo shoppers.

Puerto Vallarta has one of the best climates in the world (some 320 days of sunshine per year on average!) and a profusion of natural beauty. The sprawling beaches attract hundreds of thousands of people every year. Many come here to vacation, while others come to live for extended periods.

With the low cost of living, high quality of life, excellent healthcare, tax benefits, lifestyle rich in culture, and close proximity to its northern neighbours, Puerto Vallarta is progressively becoming home to more and more Canadian and US snowbirds and retirees. The availability of affordable real estate in Puerto Vallarta and the relatively low cost of living help retirement savings go as far as possible.

These benefits also have been considerably strengthened for Canadians by the recent appreciation of their 'Loonie' against the American dollar and the Mexican peso. The proportion of Canadian homebuyers in Puerto Vallarta has been on the rise since 2007, but boosted by a stronger Canadian dollar, more and more Canadians are taking advantage of these favorable market conditions to purchase seasonal homes or primary homes for retirement.

I wish I had a peso for every time someone asks me about summer in Puerto Vallarta. Specifically, "How hot does it really get in the summer?" and "What is there to do in Puerto Vallarta in the summer?"

First, let me tell you about rainy season in PV. I spent my youth in Washington, DC, a place famous for the 'dog days' of summer. Puerto Vallarta isn't even close! Here we have the ocean to dip in when it's hot and muggy, cooling breezes both from the ocean, and here at Rivera Cuale, from the river as well. That same river fills and widens, covering rocks, and bringing the wading birds out to fish. The air in our riverfront location always seems cooler and fresher than downtown.

I love the rain because it brings renewal. We are just beginning our rainy season, and with just a couple of rainy periods the mountains are showing so much fresh new green. It's a seasonal miracle that I never tire of seeing.
