Rivera Cuale Owners Reception

Owners Group Photo

On November 24th we had the pleasure of hosting a welcome reception for our many owners who had come to town for American Thanksgiving and who were already living here. It was great to have everyone together to meet face to face and we noticed a real feeling of family. We constantly strive to build a sense of community here at Rivera Cuale, and seeing everyone smiling and laughing with their neighbors did us proud.

Fundraiser Concert

On November 21st we held our first ever concert at Rivera Cuale, on the riverfront under the stars. Sergio Checo Carrillo's full, rich voice and charismatic performance pleased the audience and earned him a standing ovation. His accompanist singer and keyboard player were fantastic too! The sale of the 100 tickets and Manos Unidas handicrafts in total raised about $45,000 pesos ($3,700 USD) for PEACE programs in the area. Thanks to all who came out and supported this great cause!

New Puerto Vallarta Videos
Puerto Vallarta's Malecon

Recently a group of Puerto Vallarta business owners got together to make a series of videos about Puerto Vallarta, called Simply Puerto Vallarta. This month we wanted to share a few of them with you that we thought you would find interesting and informative.

Retirement: A couple from Minnesota landed in PV in 2004 after cruising the Americas in their boat, and without having planned it decided to retire here. Click here to watch their story.

On The Road: These folks don't let anything stop them from making their yearly road trips down to PV and they talk about the ease of border crossings and highway travel. Click here to see them on the move.

Southside Shuffle: A new event in Zona Romantica, just a few minutes' walk from Rivera Cuale. The Southside Shuffle is a two-block party hosted by 12 businesses and boutique shops every other Friday night. Enjoy drinks, culture, friends and fun! Click here to see the shuffle.

Greetings!

Happy Holidays! Like us you may be wondering where the time has gone and how we got around to the holidays again so fast. Doesn't each year just seem to go by more quickly than the last?

Speaking of which, as time lapses, so do opportunities. Rivera Cuale has started this high season on a very positive note. We have already sold more units and put others on reserve. We are encouraged that although the last couple of years have presented us all with a tough economy, people are resilient and are making wise property investment decisions, buying now with an outlook to the future. We hope that you too will consider making Rivera Cuale your home, and we are here to guide you every step of the way. Just let us know what we can do to help make it happen for you.

We hope you know just how much we appreciate your support of Rivera Cuale, and we look forward to welcoming you for a visit soon.

Wishing you and yours the best for this Holiday Season and in the New Year!

Puerto Vallarta Emerges as Popular Home Investment for Canadians
by Jean Talbot, Rivera Cuale

Canadian Dollar to Mexican PesoThe proportion of Canadian home buyers in Puerto Vallarta has been on the rise since 2007, as they leverage their increased buying power in this warm-weather market. Boosted by a strong Canadian Dollar (this Yahoo Finance graph shows it at 12.28 to the Peso week of December 6th), many Canadians are taking advantage of these favorable market conditions to purchase seasonal homes or primary homes for retirement.

For example, one recent investor in Rivera Cuale had first thought to buy in Hawaii or the Caribbean. He wanted a vacation home where he and his wife could eventually retire. "We were looking for something exceptional, but we also wanted to make a good investment," he said. Upon weighing the pros and cons of travel time and expense to Hawaii or the Caribbean, plus cost of living, versus Mexico, he realized the convenience and value of the direct trip to Puerto Vallarta, which sits at the same latitude as Hawaii.

He is now enjoying his gorgeous home at Rivera Cuale overlooking the Bay of Banderas, the river, the town and the mountains of Puerto Vallarta, and he couldn't be happier with his decision. Click here to read more.

Upcoming Events at Rivera Cuale

PiņataPiņata Workshop  Like last year, we are once again throwing a piņata party at Rivera Cuale, just in time for Christmas! We will have the neighborhood kids over for refreshments and to make piņatas and would like to invite your kids too! Aside from making a fun holiday decoration, the workshop encourages kids to use recyclable materials from home, like plastic pop bottles and newspapers, and it's a great cultural activity. If you will be in Puerto Vallarta with your children on December 18th and they would like to join in the fun, please contact Leanne Smith for details and to RSVP: leanne@riveracuale.com.

Spanish Classes  The week of December 20th to 24th, Rivera Cuale will host Spanish classes being put on by the PEACE Language School. Beginner and Intermediate classes will be taught from 9am to 11:30am each day and will focus on not only the language but also the Mexican culture. Pricing is very reasonable and proceeds fund PEACE non-profit programs in the area. For more information and to register, please contact peacelanguageinfo@peacemexico.org.

The Guadalupe Processions - The Whole Story
by Estelle Eisen, Rivera Cuale

Guadalupe3My absolute favorite time of the year in Puerto Vallarta is the Guadalupe Processions. To judge from the onlookers, most Vallartans share my feelings, even if not religious. For me this is by far the most interesting cultural event that we have in our city. For twelve days, from December 1st to 12th, the Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe (the church downtown with the crown) in the center of Puerto Vallarta receives procession after procession from around the city and surrounding communities, each accompanied by a float bearing a young woman representing the Virgin of Guadalupe, a green shroud bedecked with golden stars covering her head. These processions continue from afternoon until midnight or later every day.  There are literally hundreds during the twelve days. Click here to read the whole story.

We appreciate your continued interest in our development! As always, we are here to help with any questions you may have, and we welcome your comments on our newsletter.

Sincerely,

The Rivera Cuale Team
