Salsa Night Review
Latin rhythms were in full hip-moving swing on a fun, tropical evening at Rivera Cuale. About thirty dance-inspired attendees arrived to learn the fundamentals of salsa dancing. The night kicked off with refreshments and relaxation at the poolside with the beautiful Rio Cuale and cool breezes as the backdrop. One, two, three, pause four. Five, six, seven, pause eight. These were the common phrases used to motivate the hips to move as participants of all ages attentively listened to guided techniques taught by local instructors Roberto Villavicencio and Marcella Castellanos.
Thank you to all the attendees, whose entry fees were pooled together to form a donation of $1750 pesos to Pasitos de Luz, a non-profit organization in Puerto Vallarta benefiting children with disabilities.

Upcoming Holidays
May 1st, Primero de Mayo
This Mexican national holiday is equivalent to the U.S. and Canadian Labor Day. While many countries celebrate May 1st in many ways, including the old "Maypole" ceremony, here in Mexico it is a day of rest for the workers in their honor. Be aware that many government offices, banks, stores and offices will be closed throughout the country.
May 5th, Cinco de Mayo
This special day commemorates the victory of the Mexican militia over the French army at The Battle Of Puebla in 1862. It is primarily a regional holiday celebrated in the Mexican state capital city of Puebla and throughout the state of Puebla, with some limited recognition in other parts of Mexico, and especially in U.S. cities with a significant Mexican population. It is not, as many people think, Mexico's Independence Day, which is actually September 16th. |

Look Who Came to Visit
Ahhh...the life of an iguana. He appears to be deep in thought, perhaps pondering the many options before him for how to spend the afternoon: go for a swim, laze about in the sun, or maybe climb a tree and take a siesta.
Thanks John and Doug (owners) for sending us this great photo! |
