 | The AOP team during a test flight |
|
NEON's airborne observation team (AOP) recently carried out their first test flights with a full suite of NEON-owned airborne remote sensing instruments. The team headed to Grand Junction, CO, to conduct the test flights.
Two NEON staff members shared their experiences during the Grand Junction flight campaigns on the NEON blog. NEON science educator Leah Wasser draws on her background in remote sensing and landscape ecology to help explain how NEON's airborne remote sensing suite complements vegetation data collected on the ground. And AOP technician Megan Johnson hops into a Twin Otter and takes her readers through both the smooth air and the bumps of the inaugural AOP test flights in Grand Junction.
