I just couldn't help myself last week, when it seemed as though the vile "egg-as-person" initiative might pass in Mississippi. I thought what Nina Simone sang: Mississippi Goddam.
But, ended-up, I didn't have to say Simone's words out-loud: As you'll know by now, Mississippi voters had the good sense to reject this really perverse idea.
Meanwhile, I "fessed-up," in a piece I wrote for Huffington Post Politics and RH Reality Check, Nina Simone Said Mississippi Goddam. I Thought It, to my decades'-long love affair with Mississippi music; specifically, the Delta blues.
How could this place I love do this dastardly deed. Happily, it couldn't.
I hope you'll read the piece and listen to it, too.
Best wishes.
Rebecca
