What's the Plan for Chicago's Women, Now that Rahm is to Be Our Mayor?
Rahm's Chance to Make Women's History
Greetings!
This month, Women's History Month, the month that Rahm Emanuel begins preparing in-earnest for his new job, seems like a good time for the rest of us to put our thoughts together, too.
Here are mine.
There are two historic opportunities for women in Rahm Emanuel's election:  One is for the Mayor-Elect to govern, by putting women first, the best way to solve the city's myriad problems.
Rahm Emanuel Has a Chance to Make Women's History has been widely picked-up, both in Chicago and nationally, so I hope you'll (also) take a look, since it seems to have resonated across diverse audiences.
The second opportunity is for women all across Chicago to organize, quickly and deeply, to advocate for a woman-focused agenda with the Mayor-Elect, his new Cabinet, and the new City Council:
At this turning-point in Chicago history, not-to-say crisis point, now is the time to "seize the time," just as was said and done in another historic era.
Best wishes.
P.S. To talk about this, I was recently a guest on Rev. Al Sharpton's national radio show, as well as on The Matt McGill Show, both productions of WVON 1690, Chicago's historic, African-American-focused radio station.  What a treat for this stone Chicago blues fan. [WVON was founded by Leonard and Phil Chess, of Chess Records, who recorded the greats, e.g., Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, Chuck Berry, and Bobby Blue Bland.]
