Rev. Meeks never wanted to be Mayor.
Greetings!
Things were just starting to get all nice and quiet around here.  I was getting dressed for a holiday dinner with my husband and some friends when I heard the TV newscaster say:  Rev. Meeks has dropped-out of the race for Mayor of Chicago.

I've been saying all along that Rev. Meeks's behavior was curious; that his actions didn't make much sense, if he really wanted the gig.

The last time I examined this topic was last week, in this piece for The Huffington Post.

I pulled no punches. You'll see when you read it. Food-for-thought, as we enter the next inning of this game.

Also, I said there should be no countenancing the kind of statement
Rev. Meeks made last week, the kind that drives people apart, instead of together.

There's just no place for it: No where, at no time, and in no year--not in this old one, nor in the new one shortly to be upon us.

All good wishes to you and yours for that New Year, one I hope brings much joy and togetherness to all of us.
