Hi,
If you are a subscriber to The Second Cup, you are smart. I know this because first, if you read The Second Cup, you understand the value and power of good personal coaching and second, I only accept smart subscribers.
Because you are smart, its most likely true that if there were any external roadblocks to your success and personal satisfaction in your career and life .....
you would figure out how to overcome them,
cause you're smart, right?
Not so clear cut, perhaps.....
How would you answer this question?:
What keeps you from achieving the level of professional success and personal satisfaction you want TODAY?
It is a safe bet that your answer will reveal one or more of the following internal energetic blocks - a set of forces that can cripple our progress and hold us back.
These powerful and deceptively discreet energetic blocks can be broken down into four categories (the Big 4) and dictate how we see the world.
The first of the Big 4 is limiting beliefs - those that hold us back from success. Limiting beliefs are general beliefs about the world, our environment and situation, and the people around us who stand in our way. We accept a limiting belief as true because we've learned it from someone else, or from an "authority," such as the media, a book, or a movie.
The second of the Big 4 is the assumptions we make - based on the premise that because something happened in the past, it is automatically going to happen again. When we make choices based on assumptions, we are letting the past control the future.
The third of the Big 4 is our interpretations - an opinion we create about an event, situation, or experience. In essence, we create an explanation and then look for evidence to support its validity. Interpretations hold a strong energetic charge, which affects our
emotions and actions.
The last of the Big 4 energy blocks is the most difficult to overcome, because it's the most personal and holds the most energy. This barrier is within every one of us: the inner critic. Our inner critic is highly personal, rooted deeply inside us and carries the most intense emotional charge of any of the blocks we've explored.
The Big 4 are powerful, omnipresent, and thrive on fear. The good news, though, is their cryptonite is FACTS.
Try this:
Identify someone you are aware of who actually has what you state that you want, in terms of success or personal satisfaction. Now, try to identify what is different about that person and his/her situation from you? Stay fact-based and build a rational explanation as to why they have it and you can't seem to achieve it.
Let me know what you discover.
Thanks for sharing your second cup with me!
