Self Coaching 101
As the year begins to pick up speed and traction, I wanted to remind you to take stock in how you're shaping up with the goals and resolutions you set just 6 weeks ago. It would be easy to get complacent around now and we're all justified a little bit in parsing some blame on mother nature for blowing us off track a bit . (That's my excuse for my recent backsliding on running goals for the year). An important part of working with clients as an executive coach is to help my clients understand and get comfortable with the concept of 'self' coaching. It is the personal tool kit we each have at our disposal to keep us motivated, level-set our thinking, and even give us the 'kick in the butt' we sometimes need. I've put together a few of my favorite self-coaching quotes that I hope might strike a nerve, trigger an action, or remind you of an inner resolve that's a little 'snowed-in' about now. * * * * * 'An ineffective, unhappy life is learned - you weren't born that way' 'The person you are at this moment is really the end result of all the life choices YOU'VE made to date'. 'Understanding how CONTROL and HABIT can echo through your life is the way toward dismantling the most stubborn, resistent problems. ' 'Another word for boredom is detachment....and, boredom is often times an attempt to insulate you from feelings of failure or frustration.' 'If your healthy instincts are sacrificed to a life of control, sooner or later you will suffer' 'Life Experience + self-trust = success... Life Experience + self-doubt = struggle.' 'You become what you think' 'Let life unfold...... there are obstacles, but no dead ends' 'Every problem has a solution, and sometimes I have to wait for an answer' 'The greatest strategy for personal and professional development is BOLD self expression' 'Argue your limitations, and they will be yours' And, from the plaque hanging over my home's side entry way: 'Be nice or go away ' Thanks for sharing your second cup with me,
