Friday Last
Chad Wear of Lake Hill Winery in Carthage was our speaker. Exchangite Chuck Venvertloh provided the introduction. Char was born and raised in Hancock County and is a 1997 graduate of Warsaw High School. He was also a part of the 1997 state championship basketball team from Warsaw. He is now a pharmacist and owns Like Hill Winery in Carthage, Illinois. The winery opened last New Year's Eve after getting the inspiration from a trip he made to Australia. The winery has two banquet facilities capable of holding functions for 400 and 120 people. The Lake Hill Winery has 12-thousand square feet with a 4 acre vineyard with some 2000 plants. It also has a full bar for those who don't enjoy wine. The winery is booked every weekend now thru November so it looks like Craig is off to a good start. The winery is located on the West side of Carthage overlooking Carthage Lake. For more go to Lake Hill Winery.

This & That
Jim Benz handled the prayer and Mike Smith started us off with the pledge. Jeff Dorsey twisted tails. President Terwelp welcomed back Dan Veihl. Been a while since he made a meeting. Kent Anderson , chairing the BBQ Judges Class on Saturday, August 4th, announced he has 28 people (31 by the weekend) signed up and will need some help from club members to put the event on. Please contact Kent if you can help him and there is a good chance you might even get some food to take home. Art Awerkamp talked about the upcoming Smoke on the River Event. Raffle tickets were handed out to each member to sell. Please sell all that you received and more if you can. First place winner gets a 1-thousand dollar Meat Bundle and second place gets a trip for two to Las Vegas. For every 12 you sell you get one free ticket for yourself in the drawing. Happy selling! Kevin Curran handled the card draw and Sonny Christner had the winning ticket but drew a queen of Hearts. The pot was worth $1903 so over $2000 next week? Only 15 cards left! Happy belated birthday wishes to Rick Veihl. Rick's birthday was last Sunday.
