Quote of the Week |
"Does this mean I have to leave?"
- The funny line by Carlos Fernandez after Dennis Koch announced that recently retired Les Sachs will be seeking reinstatement to the club. Carlos of course came into the club shortly after Les left a couple years back. There's room for both of you, Carlos! |

| Road Trip This Friday | |
We'll meet on the beautiful grounds of Spring Lake Country Club - at the club house. We'll enjoy a nice meal, hear from the club manager, J.W. West, and then some will golf while others will back to work or home. (If you are still interested in golfing but haven't signed up, called Jared Haugh immediately.) In any case, it will be a fun road trip so leave your worries at your worksite or home and join us for a good time at Quincy's Finest Hour! |
| Friday Last | | | An informative presentation on social media by Eric Thomas. Along with help from the Brandiy Blickhan, Eric gave us a Power Point presentation on the many aspects of social media. It is a vast field and growing by the day. As Eric told us, some of the major players now are Twitter, Face Book, Four Square, Instagram, You Tube, Linked In, and Pininterest. Normally a four hour presentation, Eric narrowed it to 20 minutes for us and did a fine job. Thanks, Eric. |

| This & That | |
Jared Haugh with the good prayer and Gary Peters leading the pledge... Another nice crowd on hand... Jared Haugh telling us that 25 men have signed up for golf this Friday after our meeting. See him if you are interested... Jimmie Louthen taking a break from the kitchen to be with us. Good to see you, Jimmie... Former Exchangite Les Sachs the guest of Dennis Koch. With his Friday's open in retirement, hopefully Les will be back in the mix soon... President Steve Green thanking Dan Veihl, Dave Poland, and your humble editor for all assisting with the Flag Day Family Picnic... President Steve also noting the recent death of Richard "Sparky" Sparks. As I understand it, Sparky was the oldest person to ever participate in our Gus Macker tournament when he did so in 2008. He was 75 when he died... Nice job by Jeff "Big Dog" Dorsey with The News. Lots of good stuff but he took down the house with "sometimes the bull wins"... The Big Dog also telling us about a great opportunity for our club to show off our patriotism by holding the big flag for the national anthem prior to the Quincy Gems game vs. the Wounded Warriors on July 2nd. Need to be there at 5:30 p.m. Sounds like a great event. Details have been added to the VIP Dates... 50/50 pot at $1,401 last week. Rick Veihl had the right ticket but picked the wrong card (seven of clubs) so the pot grows. Another reason to see your smiling face at Spring Lake this Friday... My table talking last week about what a nice addition the 50/50 has been to our meetings. No doubt draws more to our regular meetings and obviously creates a lot of excitement when the pot gets big. Largest pot ever? On September 17, 2010, Brian Koch took home $2,948. There were only four cards left when Brian picked the ace of spades on that day... Your humble editor twisting tails last week... Still looking for the next humble (or otherwise) editor... Started this bulletin last week in Quincy and finishing this week in Daytona Beach FL... Wanted to leave you with another Mel Dillman dandy - "Not on my computer!" That was Mel's response to Eric Thomas telling us that social media has over taken pornography as the number one activity on the Internet. Never know what Mel will say next and it's yet one more reason to be there each Friday... That's all for now, 'til next time, may God's love, grace, and peace be with you and the ones you love. |
