Quote of the Week

"Which is legal in Missouri!"

 - Mel Dillman's response to Doug Greenwell telling us that Steve Peters had "gotten attached to a duck" that resided on the Peters farm across the Mighty Mississippi. Doug was serving as substitute tail twister in his brother-in-law's absence so he took advantage of the opportunity to have a little fun at Steve's expense.

A nice program by the two men, Brock Hampsmire and Josh Houchins, who make the WGEM Sportscenter show on ESPN 1440 AM a local favorite. We appreciate Brock and Josh sharing what goes on behind the scenes of the weekday program that runs from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Now in its eighth year, the show tries to cover local, regional, and national topics related to the world of sports. Good stuff. First Vice President Perry Terwelp with introduction.

EXCHANGITE Editor needed
The end of this month will complete my eighth year as your editor of the Exchangite and I have come to the conclusion that it is time for a change (maybe you have too...). According to my records, John Tripp served in the capacity for a total of 21 years and Paul Clarkson for an amazing 37 years prior to that. I have no illusions of competing with either one of them in longevity. There is no reason for my resignation other than I just feel I need a break; each week has become harder to find the time and concentration level necessary to get the bulletin out in a timely manner. That is a disservice to the club. I have considered it a blessing and privilege to have followed in the footsteps of two men I respected so much but it is time for someone to become the fourth editor in our club's 66 year history. We have several men in the club more than capable of doing the job. It is my hope that one of you steps up to the challenge. Please speak to President Steve Green, First Vice President Perry Terwelp, or any other officer or board member if you are interested. I'll be happy to answer any questions you may have. Thank you.
This & That
Jared Haugh with the good prayer and Macker Head Buster Scott Westhaus leading the pledge... Nice crowd on hand. Not sure if it was the good weather, roast beef, card draw, or program that brought them all in... Jared Haugh reminding everyone of the June 22nd road trip to Spring Lake Country Club. Regular program at lunch followed by golf for those interested. 18 have signed up so far. $48 for non-Spring Lake members, $0 for Spring Lake members... Immediate Past President Kent Anderson is coordinating the certified barbecue judging class on August 4th. New members Jacob Huff and Zeke Cernea were the first two to enroll... President Steve Green presented Jacob, Zeke, and Eric Barnes with the National pins and certificates... President Steve also telling us about thank you notes from a Character Champions recipient, Fishing For Freedom, Cornerstones, and the Jackson-Lincoln Swimming Pool... Congratulations to Brian & Andrea Musholt on the birth of their second son, Carson, on May 18th. Mom, Carson, sixteen-month-old big brother, Morgan, and dad all doing good... Speaking of Brian Musholt, funny line when Jeff Dorsey told the group he hopes someone wins the 50/50 soon as he was tired of seeing Brian. As most members know, Brian usually doesn't attend a lot of meetings until the 50/50 pot tops four digits and then he never misses (unless of course he and his wife are in the hospital having a child)... Lincolnland Director Dennis Koch plugging the District Golf outing at The Oaks in Springfield on Thursday, June 21st. Cost is $90, of which $40 is a tax deductible contribution for the district's scholarship program. Certainly a worthy cause for the short drive... The 50/50 over $1,300 this week. Last week Zeke Cernea had the right ticket but picked the wrong card (six of diamonds)... As mentioned above, Doug Greenwell twisting tails. Did a fine job except for the fact that he collected at his own table... That's all for now, 'til next time, may God's love, grace, and peace be with you and the ones you love.
