"Was that with Orville or Wilbur?"
- Jared Haugh's quick comment to Elvin Townsend telling us he still remembered his first airplane ride. I doubt Elvin's inaugural ride was with the Wright brothers but that's funny stuff! |

This Friday | |
Reg Ankrom, Executive Director of the Historical Society of Quincy and Adams County, will take to the podium to tell us about the "Lincoln in Illinois" photograph exhibit the society is currently displaying at their 425 South 12th Street location. (To be clear, we are meeting at ABVI.) In addition, we'll recognize our first Youth of the Month (rescheduled from last week.) Should be a good program so plan on joining us Friday at Quincy's Finest Hour. |

A pleasure to have David Terry and his crew from Cape Air with us. David, the Regional Director of Cape Air, and John Rodgers, the Regional Marketing Manager, handled the speaking duties for the group. The two told us the company's goal was to fly in and out of Quincy with high frequency while featuring great service and great fares. David and John spoke in detail about some of the new perks their airline has added and about others ahead. Also joining us from Cape Air were E.J. Odom and Penny Landers. At the end of the program, the group gave away three envelopes, each containing two round-trip tickets from Quincy to St. Louis. Mayor Spring won the first and Alderman Dan Brink won the second AND third! What are the odds? Graciously, Dan requested another ticket be drawn for the third winner and that was Vic Welper. Our thanks to Dan for introducing. |

Rev. Ron Fritts with the prayer and I believe it was Doug Greenwell leading the pledge... Airport Director Marty Stegeman the guest of Dan Brink and Michael Brzank the guest of Rich Zeidler. Michael and Rich showing their sense of humor as your humbled editor picked on both while tail twisting; one for hair everywhere and the other for hair nowhere... Youth of the Month recipient out of town last week so rescheduled to this week... Jeff Dorsey telling us about the Veterans Parade scheduled for November 5th and explaining that parade organizers are looking to honor any and all Pearl Harbor survivors. Contact Jeff if you know anyone who fits the criteria... Nice touch by Cape Air folks to give away tickets but also for providing all attendees with an "In-Flight Meal" AKA mints... President Steve Green telling the group he agreed with the Point to Ponder subject last week about wearing name tags. Then Dan Brink noted the person who authored the Point to Ponder was not wearing his tag. Thanks, Dan. Bet it will be on this week... Doug Reed with the right 50/50 ticket but picking the wrong card (10 of diamonds). Pot climbs to, you got it, $200... Not sure what happened at JWCC but it appears we will be losing Exchangite Tom Klincar at the end of the month, if not before... 268 days until the Perry Terwelp administration and still no cell phone... That's all for now, 'til next time, may God's love, grace, and peace be with you and the ones you love. |

| Point to Ponder |
I found this statement on the Lincolnland District website on why an individual should join the Exchange Club: "To help build a better America, and in doing so, bring out the best in yourself. Exchange helps members develop leadership, networking, and organizational skills that contribute to success in business, family, and personal endeavors." Has this been your experience? I hope it has, but if not, why? I humbly offer, through my personal experience, the more you do within Exchange, the better person you become and your employer or business, family, and community benefit. I promise that if you step up your activity within our club, your membership immediately becomes more valuable and personally rewarding. |
