A pleasure to have Charles Whitcomb and Catherine Birsic with us to speak about skydiving and the "Bucket List".  Charles is a certified tandem instructor with over 3,500 jumps to his credit while Catherine is a skydiving enthusiast.  The two showed the video from Catherine's first tandem jump.  Neat stuff.  If you are interested in the experience, Barron Aviation's Rapid Descent Skydiving (573-221-3230 ext 300) in Hannibal MO can make it happen for a mere $225.  First Vice President Perry Terwelp with the introduction.

This & That

My thanks to Jeff Dorsey for taking notes in my absence last week.  Need to add another lunch to what I already owe the Big Dog...  Jared Haugh with the prayer and Vic Welper leading the pledge...  Guests included Joe Winkelman of the Quincy History Shop (with Travis Brown) and Quincy City Engineer Jeff Steinkamp (with Brian Koch)...  First Vice President Perry Terwelp standing in for an absent President Steve Green...  Vice President Perry mentioned that the Board approved $250 for Quanada and that the Club's donation would be matched by Unity Church of Quincy led by the Rev. Ron Fritts...  Speaking of Rev. Ron, he invited all Exchangites to be a part of the Sunday Morning Service after Smoke on the River called "Holy Smoke on the River".  As mentioned a few weeks ago, I wasn't sure if that was a joke or not.  I guess it's the real deal.  Good stuff...  Vice President Perry mentioning the Club will be a part of the 10th Anniversary of 9/11 program at City Hall.  We will need about 12 members to be a part of that event.  Dan Selby is the chairman for that...  Travis Brown solicited members to walk on the Exchange Club team in the September 1st Walk to End Alzheimer Disease.  Unfortunately, we have had several members suffer from this disease.  A good showing would be nice. Contact Travis Brown at tbrown@downtownquincy.com if you are interested... Immediate Past President Kent Anderson handled the 50/50 card draw.  Rick Goughnour had the right ticket but drew the wrong card (five of Spades).  Pot remains at $200...  Jeff Dorsey tail twisted and thanked Dr. Tom Klincar for giving the Big Dog the Smoke on the River Raffle tickets Dr. Tom sold.  This was especially nice of Dr. Tom considering he is on Curt Moore's team...  Jeff also asked Ron Fritts what prison he got the striped shirt he was wearing from...  Curt Moore showed the Big Dog a dollar bill with a note saying "call me at 440-23*#.  So Dorsey pulled out his cell, dialed the number and said, "Hi,  Mrs. Moore...How are you!"  Sounds like a great tail twister job...  Last but certainly not least, our condolences to Eric Schultz and family on the loss of Eric's sister, Linda Schultz.  Linda passed away on July 26th in her New York City home at the age of 61.  We are sorry to hear of your loss, Eric...  We look forward to seeing all of you Friday night at the Quincy Boat Club.  Remember, NO NOON MEETING on Friday...  That's all for now, 'til next time, may God's love, grace, and peace be with you and the ones you love.
