YMCA's Kids Fit Zone presentation made by Joanna Voss, the YMCA's Wellness Director and assisted by Operations Director Debbie Bruce. Joanna focused on the obesity problem in America especially with children.. Some startling statistics...one in five children are obese in American and in Illinois it is even worse. It is one in three in our state and Adams County is one of the worst statistically in the state. One of the reasons is children don't have safe places to play like we did when we were kids so they stay home and end up eating less healthy foods and thanks to technology, kids are limited in the physical activity. The Kids Fit Zone at the YMCA hopes to change that with interactive games for youth to take part in.

This & That

Travis Brown looking for 15 guys to be a part of the Exchange Club walking team on September 1st at the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's. Dick Wentura was the owner of the winning ticket for the card draw. The pot was worth $1168 with just 16 cards left. Dick, who has spent $1200 already trying to win, drew the 10 of Diamonds so the pot grows and the cards diminish to 15. Dennis Koch with the prayer and Steve Wellman led the pledge.   The first new member of the Steve Green administration, Paul Terwelp, was brought into the club with a rousing introduction by Gary Peters and Jeff Dorsey. Paul was sponsored by his brother Perry. That's all for now, 'til next time, may God's love, grace, and peace be with you and the ones you love.
