BASKETBALL BASH IS WEDNESDAY NIGHT (3/16)

The details are pretty simple for the newest club social: Wednesday evening at 5:30 p.m., Cedar Crest Country Club.  $20 gets you a good time with good food and good drink.  Plus, fill out an NCAA Tournament bracket for a chance to win.  Our thanks to Basketball Bash Chairman Jared Haugh in advance.

Arts QuincyOur fine organization will play host to the 2011 City of Quincy Arts Awards.  Four awards will be presented: Arts Organization (A nonprofit organization that has made a substantial impact on the cultural development of this area demonstrated through exceptional artistic achievement, outstanding programming or other leadership activities.); Individual Artist /Teacher (A living artist or teacher, residing in Adams County, who has made a significant contribution in his/her artistic discipline and to the arts in Quincy and Adams County.); Business Leadership (A local business or corporation that has demonstrated a significant commitment to the arts, recognizing the imperative role of public/private partnership.  This commitment may be in the form of financial, personnel and/or research.); and Individual Volunteer Leadership (A volunteer who has consistently supported the arts through a commitment of personal time, energy and devotion.)  See you Friday for Quincy's Finest Hour!

Friday Last 

Good to have former member Heath Richmond with us.  Heath is the Senior District Executive of Mississippi Valley Council of the Boy Scouts of America and was on hand to tell us about BSA's new 10,000 acre National High Adventure Base called "The Summit" in West Virginia.  The new base will be the home of the National Jamboree from this point on.  President Kent Anderson with the introduction. 

State Champions

An honor to have the 2A Girls Basketball State Champion Quincy Notre Dame Lady Raiders and Coach Eric Orne with us.  Junior Grace Barnes introduced all the young ladies while Coach Orne told us how proud he was of the players and what a fun ride it was.  Congratulations, Coach Orne and ladies!  Good stuff.

Rev. Ron Fritts with the nice prayer and Rich Howell leading the pledge...  President Kent telling us about thank you letters from Big Brother/Big Sister for the donation to their bowl-a-thon and from the Mississippi Valley Council of Boy Scouts for our donation to their Eagle Scout dinner...  Second reading on Tony Nutt sponsored by Curt Moore.  Another one barely passes the evaluation.  Let's bring him in and put an end to The Drought (up to 168 days this Friday)...  Congratulations to Courtney and Devin Hageman who were married last Saturday, March 12th...  Good to have both Paul Niemann and Mike Lavery back in attendance.  Paul still glowing from his honeymoon and Mike still recovering from his triple by-pass surgery...  Congratulations to Jeff "Big Dog" Dorsey and his sidekick, Dennis Oliver, on another successful St. Patrick's Day Parade last Saturday.  Jeff reported 90 entries...  Mel Dillman has tickets for the George Geisendorfer fundraiser to be conducted on March 27th.  Tickets are $5 each or three for $10.  See him if you would like to purchase or contribute to the event in another way...  Fred Lauder had the right ticket to our 50/50 drawing but picked the wrong card (nine of diamonds).  The pot grows.  Closing in on the $500 mark...  Steve Peters twisting tails and offering a few Zen thoughts...  Our thanks to Scott Westhaus who donated tickets to the upcoming Madd Hoss Jackson and Jake Owens concert...  President Kent will provide an update from the March 14th board meeting this Friday...  Gus Macker Co-Chairmen Mel Dillman and Curt Moore requesting you leave the Memorial Day weekend open so you can help with our biggest fundraiser.  Dates are above.  Macker Committee to meet next on March 22nd...  Mel Dillman also giving us a brief update on Smoke On The River.  More big news on this event to be announced soon...  That's all for now, 'til next time, may God's love, grace, and peace be with you and the ones you love.
