Quote of the Week

Maybe we'll have one from Rick after the weekend's basketball in Normal

A Point to Ponder

As Rick mentioned, we haven't had a new member in about five months. The only way we'll get new members is if YOU ask them to join. We are currently the second largest club in the Lincolnland District - let's keep it that way! We need help with Gus Macker, Smoke on the River and our many service projects. Invite someone to a meeting or bring them to the burger bash.

This Friday

Gamemasters

Firearms expert Rusty Merkel from Game Masters will join us to provide a little guns and ammunition education.  Rusty has been in the business for a long time and can provide the right advise be it for hunting purposes or personal protection.  Our esteemed Program Chairman Gary Peters will do the introduction and no doubt provide a little comic relief before doing so.  See you Friday for Quincy's Finest Hour!

Friday Last

Congratulations to Quincy Police Officer Jeff Nevin for being named the Law Enforcement Officer of the Year and to Quincyan Greg Arens who received the Citizens Crime Prevention Award.  Officer Nevin was recognized for his numerous contributions to law enforcement but especially for his actions on June 15, 2010, when he assisted in the rescue of two people from a house fire.  Mr. Arens was recognized for his efforts on May 31, 2010, when he helped save a man who had fallen into the Mississippi River and was sucked into the Quincy damn.  Adams County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Fred Kientzle and Adams County Sheriff's Investigator Joe Lohmeyer both received letters of commendation from Quincy Police Chief Rob Copley.  After the awards, Stu McArthur, Supervisory Agent in Charge of the FBI's Springfield Office gave the keynote address.  Agent McArthur spoke in detail about the agency's efforts to combat terrorism abroad and in the United States.  Hats off the Adams County Sheriff Brent Fischer and Quincy Police Chief Rob Copley for Co-Chairing the special day.  Good stuff!

This & That

Quincy Police Department's Honor Guard posting and retiring colors and Brother Ed Arambasich providing both the invocation and benediction...  Numerous law enforcement guests with us including about half a dozen past recipients of the Law Enforcement of the Year Award...  Please keep Mike Lavery in your thoughts and prayers as Mike underwent triple by-pass surgery on February 3rd.  Mike is home and "gaining on it" as he reports.  He is getting stronger everyday and we look forward to having him back soon.  Someone has to keep our unruly group in check and Mike has been that man for the past couple decades...  Late with the bulletin; I know.  Another crazy week...  No 50/50 or tail twister last week but both sure to happen this Friday.  No Quote of the Week or Point to Ponder this week but hopefully next week...  Paul Niemann tying the knot on Saturday.  Down to about 48 hours to run Melinda...  Not sure I'll be in attendance on Friday as I will be making the trek to Bloomington to watch my daughters play in the IHSA State Tournament.  What a blessing to have my first three daughters get to experience it; first two twice each.  Thank you for allowing me to do something I try not to do too much of - brag on my kids.  I admit it, I married and bred smart, boys...  THE DRAUGHT continues; this Friday marks 147 days since our last new member induction...  That's all for now, 'til next time, may God's love, grace, and peace be with you and the ones you love.
