Quote of the Week

"Merry Christmas; even the fuzz is here!"

 - Santa Claus' quote upon seeing Quincy Assistant Police Chief Ron Dryer as he made his way to the stage.  Santa was on his "A" game last week and shared a great line with every child as he handed out gifts.

A Point to Ponder
My thanks to Paul Niemann for sharing these points to ponder:  If a pig loses its voice, is it disgruntled?  If you mixed vodka with orange juice and milk of magnesia, would you get a Philip's Screwdriver?  What do you do when you see an endangered animal eating an endangered plant?  Do Roman paramedics refer to IV's as "4's"?  How do you tell when you run out of invisible ink?  If someone with multiple personalities threatens to kill himself, is it considered a hostage situation?  If a cow laughed, would milk come out her nose?

Honor FlightAn update on the Great River Honor Flight.  Last time we heard from this great organization, they were setting the foundation.  Now, with four flights under their belt, we welcome back our own Carlos Fernandez to tell us how many veterans they have served, what they've learned, and what the future brings.  We should all be grateful to Carlos and WGEM for their outstanding leadership on this great cause.  Good stuff.  See you Friday for Quincy's Finest Hour!

A pleasure to host the 48th Annual Hearing Impaired Christmas Party.  A nice gathering of Exchangites on hand to watch the $500 check presentation, the Christmas play "Christmas Around the World" performed by the kids, and then a visit from the Jolly Old Man himself.  Hearing Impaired Program Director Katie Stegner accepting the check and telling us that our donation allows the kids to have opportunities and experiences that might otherwise not be possible. Hats off to Art Awerkamp for organizing the event, introducing, and presenting the check.
