Quote of the Week

"We are glad to have you with us, Greg, as we tend to start more fires than we ever put out!"

- Jeff Dorsey gets credit for this funny line during the induction.

A Point to Ponder
Was last week's program just a bit awkward?  I'll not provide any commentary on what either candidate said; I'll leave that up to you and your friends.  I just know that I felt like crawling under the table - a couple different times.  If you were there, you might have wished you weren't and if you weren't, you might have wished you were.

Road Trip This Friday
Art Center ExhibitWe'll convene at the Quincy Art Center to kick-off what will be a busy weekend known as "Artoberfest" at the Center.  We'll have an opportunity to take in three different exhibits (Vietnam; Then & Now, Vietnam Memories, and 3 Photographers Preserve Quincy).  That evening (from 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.) the center will conduct a "Bowl~Appetit" Auction, Raffle and Sale as well as an International Beer Tasting and Sales event.  (Funds from this fundraiser will be used by the Quincy Art Center to assist with the art programs in the Quincy Public Schools.)  The address to the center is 1550 Jersey Street but most know it as the building just south of the Women's City Club.  You may look for parking on Jersey Street and the parking lot and drives of the Quincy Board of Education building.  See you Friday for Quincy's Finest Hour!

An interesting (to say the least) look at the Adams County Clerk/Recorder's office race.  Challenger Jay Schaefer and incumbent Georgia Volm each told us why they believe they are best candidate for the office.  You can vote for your choice on November 2nd.  We thank both for attending and for their service to our community and country.  Circuit Clerk Randy Frese and Mayor John Spring with the introductions.

Welcome to the Exchange Club of Quincy, Greg Dreyer!  Greg is the brother of Exchangite, Ron Dreyer, and a Deputy Chief on the Quincy Fire Department.  He was sponsored by Brian Koch.  Greg and his wife, Laura, have four children; one daughter and three sons.  The two will celebrate their 3rd anniversary in November.  Jeff Dorsey and Steve Peters conducted the emotional induction.  Welcome, Greg!

This & That

Jim Benz with the prayer and Jerry Ebbing leading the pledge...  Jim Benz also reminded us that this weekend approximately 1,000 Early Tin Duster will be in town for the Fall Color Run.  A nice event and we look forward to seeing the beautiful cars...  Jeff Dorsey reminding us that help is needed carrying the American Flag during the 11/6 Veterans Day Parade...  Please note that several events have been added to the VIP Dates list including the 10/30 Fall Brawl.  Details on the event will be announced soon.  As always, we are staring at a busy November and December.  We will not have a meeting on the Friday after Thanksgiving nor Christmas Eve.  We will, however, conduct our Club Christmas/New Year's Party on 12/31...  Road trip this week, back at ABVI next week, and then another road trip on 11/5...  Dr. Joe Bocke had the right 50/50 ticket but picked the wrong card (two of diamonds)...  Steve Peters twisting tails...  That's all for now, 'til next time, may God's love, grace, and peace be with you and the ones you love.
