Quote of the Week
"Do all the 60 year olds drive around the track with their turning signal on the whole time?"

 - Gary Peters' great line to our speaker, Tony Rhinberger.
A Point to Ponder
Is it officially fall when Mel Dillman starts wearing pants and winter when he puts on socks?  For the old timers, you'll remember we use to gage winter when Slim Sommerville broke out the corduroys.

This Friday
We'll welcome the two candidates for the Adams County Clerk/Recorder's office, incumbent Georgia Volm and challenger Jay Schaefer.  We'll give the two an opportunity to tell us why we should vote for them.  Should be informative and fun.  Perhaps an appropriate time to remind all Exchangites of civil discourse; we may disagree with one or the other but we will show respect to both.  See you Friday for Quincy's Finest Hour!

Good to have Quincy Raceways owner Tony Rhinberger with us.  Tony and a partner, Greg Karhoff, purchased the 35 year old track four years ago.  Greg got out and about a year later, Paul Holtschlag entered the scene as Tony's new partner.  Quincy Raceways' season runs on Sunday evenings from April through September; typically 30 weeks.  This year, about 30% of that season was rained out.  Tough year!  Tony told us how a heavy rain late Saturday can still cause cancellation - even if Sunday is sunny and beautiful.  Preparing the old dirt track is obviously a tricky thing.  Jeff Dorsey with the long introduction.

Jared Haugh with the prayer and Dave Poland leading the pledge...  Our condolence to Gary Peters on the death of his sister, Gloria Rose.  What a pretty name.  Gloria lived in Pekin and passed away on September 24th.  Our thoughts and prayers are with you, Gary...  Our condolence also go to the Tom Darnell family on the death of Tom on September 27th.  Tom was a long-time member of the club but resigned about 5-6 years ago.  Prior to Jeff Dorsey taking over as Santa, Tom filled the position for many years...  President Kent Anderson read a nice thank you from Mike McLaughlin and family for the memorial service at Wayne's funeral.  As noted in the letter, Wayne took great pride in being our last charter member and just as important, enjoyed the great fellowship of our group.  We will miss him.  Nearly $1,200 from memorial gifts being donated to the Great River Honor Flight.  Awesome...  President Kent thanking Youth of the Month chairman John Johannes for getting the program off to a great start...  No Kelly Stupasky last week.  Still looking for Greg Dryer so he can be inducted... All members invited to the October Board Meeting.  Monday, October 11th at 11:45 a.m. at The Peer...  Rumor has it that a Fall Brawl is in the works.  No date yet but I'll share here as soon as I get one for the social...  Jim Lierly had the wining 50/50 ticket but picked the wrong card (four of clubs).  Remember that the restart was $400 this time, not $200...  Yours truly twisting tails and offering a redneck joke...  Ticket sales sure to go up at Quincy Raceways in 2011 now that the Exchange Club of Quincy knows they sell alcohol out there...  Don't forget that Friday the 15th is a road trip to the Quincy Art Center.  The 15th kicks off a busy weekend for the Art Center; exhibits, entertainment, and the Bowl~Appetit! fundraiser.  More on all of these next week...  That's all for now, 'til next time, may God's love, grace, and peace be with you and the ones you love.

Skip Reuter times Kelly Stupasky as he tells the group a bit about himself during this September 24th induction.
