This Friday
| |
Our speaker this Friday is Chuck Schroeder of Advance Trading, Inc. Advance Trading was formed in 1980 to fulfill a need as an independent source of information for North American grain elevators, providing worldwide perspectives in the market. Today, Advance Trading, Inc. works with over 2,200 customers in the North America grain belt and continues to expand international ties. Commercial country elevator merchandising continues to be their core business. Advance Trading's growth has been a remarkable success and its prospects for the future remains strong. Learn more at this Friday's meeting. |
| Friday Last | | When considering law, the last thing that comes to mind is humor. Well, retired judge Robert Cook has managed to find some humor in law and he used interesting anecdotes, personal reflections, and stories from his years on the bench to share that humor with the finest hour gang. Expertly introduced by Gary Peters, Judge Cook explained the links between law, literacy, and history. He also shared his thoughts on Shakespeare's seven stages of life. For some reason the stage that mentions "the justice, in fair round belly with good capon lin'd" seemed to resonate strongest amongst the Exchangites. Maybe JJ will serve capon some Friday... I hear it tastes like chicken. |
| VIP Dates | |
8/12 - Gary & Lynda Hillebrenner 32nd anniversary 9/10 & 11 - Smoke on the River 9/13 - September Board Meeting (11:45 a.m. @ The Pier) |
| SMOKE ON THE RIVER | |
In a desperate plea for attention, Team Haugh showed up at Friday's meeting with poorly customized T-shirts and a competitive albeit somewhat cocky spirit. If nothing else, this should serve as evidence that the team captains mean business! The challenge is on...sell, sell, sell! |
| 50/50 ACE OF SPADES | |
Mike McLaughlin held the winning ticket, but drew the wrong card, the 7 of Diamonds to be exact. All four aces still in the deck! The pot should be close to the $2K mark this Friday. Hit the ATM on your way to the meeting...who knows, Friday the 13th may be your lucky day! |
| This & That | |
Reverend Ron Fritts with the prayer, Rich Howell leading the pledge and Jared Haugh twisting tails. Keith Rubio, volleyball coach at QU and prospective member, the guest of Rich Zeidler. Be sure to welcome Rick Gengenbacher back this week and thank him for his work on this publication. As Dennis Koch pointed out last week, it takes a lot of work to "get this rag out every week." Don't forget to sell those raffle tickets! Only a month to go! |
| Picture of the Week | | From the dusty archives, something to fill some space when we don't have a picture from last week's meeting. Can you name this Exchangite? This hard-working, good-looking member has been President of the club and chaired many projects. Check back next week if you haven't figured it out. |
